I can see you have it all under control and need nothing from no one.
Lets hope when you've put in your 35, you can look back and say someone did for you what the union has done for me. keep on trucking, you'll make it.
The union is a racket, hold down the new guys and pay them crap wages and withhold benefits so a bunch of lazy people who manage to hang around long enough reap the "rewards" of doing just enough to not get fired, which isnt hard since you need an act of congress to get fired from union job no matter how sorry you are.

At least at non union companies workers actually have to be accountable for their actions.

Honestly I’m not a huge fan of this site but I couldn’t pass this one up. Went into Memphis with a blown headlight at 1:37 in the morning and the mechanic tells me to put it on the deadline and get a loaner. I’m 850 miles from my home terminal. Are you fcn kidding me? I went to that Pilot down the road , bought a headlight (saved the receipt) and did it myself on the fuel island. This just blew my ever loving mind!! My God ,,135 why do you people even have a building called a “shop”?
He probably assumed you were a Memphis driver.

Did you tell him you werent from there?

I've had good interactions with most guys in our shop. They usually stop what they are doing to help. We've got one trailer mechanic I'm not a fan of. Hes always got an excuse why he cant help you. Everyone else is helpful.

Amazing how you know all this about me, yep, I hung around for 35 yrs doing absolutely nothing, managed to not get fired.
And now I have been reaping my rewards for 30 yrs.
BTW, I'm still lazy.

I think you may be mistaken, a union driver makes one phone call to dispatch and tells him the problem, then sits on his butt on the clock and lets someone else handle the problem.

Yes. Don’t be a little bitch. Be proactive and address issues. You must be a driver that came from a union company and was afraid stand up for yourself. Don’t be scared here.
It is amazing how the ones who don't work under a CBA scream the loudest as to how bad a union is. For me, 18 years working under a CBA brought me no weekly medical deductions, better work rules; short term insurance @ no cost to me. Paid by the hour for EVERYTHING work related, no giving them the first 2 hours @ the dock to unload, waiting to unload for 6 hours with no pay, break down pay from the moment the wheels stop turning, and on and on. But the biggest benefit from working under a Teamster CBA is after 18 years working @ ABF I receive $2040 each month in the form of a pension. Yes, the fund is in bad shape. And I might only get that for another few years. But show me an employer in the blue collar field who pays that after 18 years of work to their retirees & did not require me to contribute to it. I am fortunate to have had the type of job I had & the benefits that came with it & I still receive. The CBA I worked under is a dinosaur. I use to have non union jobs, whishing I had a union job with all the better pay & benefits. I forgot, it cost me about $60 a month in union dues to enjoy the fruit of a CBA. Math wise, a pretty cheap price to pay for all us who worked & still do under a Teamster CBA. When you take a job, you agree to a wage price. You are selling your services to the employer. The price of your service has a very direct effect on your bank account. The Teamster CBA I worked under, allowed my wallet to swell to a much bigger size than I thought possible, in Spades. Von.

I say you are crying that you don’t have a job like the one you complain about. Are you jealous of union workers because they have better pay & benefits? Is your bank account not bulging @ the seams like the union workers account? Are you mad people in the same work field make more money than you because they work under a CBA? Or are you mad the ‘Lazy’ people you mention working under a CBA make more money than those without a CBA? Von.
