Holland | Just Got Hired

Just got call I was hired for road gig. I finished on boarding etc. I was curious what to expect first couple months. Orientation and training? Thanks!
Maybe should have asked if there are going to be taking another -15% pay cut again before taking the job and also you kinda sound like a management dude fishy on here for comments ??

You might want to take off the tinfoil hat dude. I thought this was a forum? To ask questions and to get information and have conversations. I’m definitely not management. Just a newbie asking what to expect. I guess I’ll assume you’re at the table in the break room bitching and moaning about how terrible it is but never leave or do anything to better your situation.

you are correct.. try not to pay attention to all the negativity on these truckingboards.. good luck.. I've been working for yrc freight for 16 years and I like my job..

Appreciate the replies. I’ve been in trucking long enough to know some guys are always doom and gloom. I took look at my situation and biggest expense was health insurance. Between that and getting paid bi weekly I needed to make change to stay ahead. I’m not expecting a rose garden just a place where I can get honest pay for honest days work. Everywhere has the drama” guys” and learned a long time ago to ignore it. I’m glad to hear Joliet is one of better ones for freight to keep busy. Anyone know what orientation entails? It’s this Wed through Fri.
Not sure how it is today, but when I went in 2006, they were telling us some guys would get brand new volvos. The lucky ones would get sterlings. Ran the road a few months then made the jump into the city. I was starting to like the motels and vending machine food. One thing I can say is the road guys will treat you well. Ask questions, keep your ears open, you'll do fine. Welcome aboard.

Bring toothpicks to hold your eyelids open!
At least you get paid by the hour for the whole works.

Don’t worry Wong, Donna got this pallet really cheap in an upside down half off sale. It’s sitting in the Coop break room...

You have no clue what your talking about when it comes to Holland. So please say nothing at all that easy you don't look like a idiot
Why so?
Holland is not a top pay carrier.
Free insurance does not mean more money in your pocket if you get paid less.
It could be a wash getting paid $25 at FedEx minus health vs $22 at Holland with free health.

$400 deductible for family, $2200 out of pocket for the year, looks real good when you have to use it though. Can save you a bunch of money.

Tinfoil hat indeed and see you are pretty mouthy for a newbie so we will see what your attitude is after 6 months of driving an old junk Volvo and getting home Sat afternoon & back out Sunday and by your comments you sound just like a somebody that has visited out barn a few times ???? So you go run hard there super trucker and then after 25 years of missing most Family events and giving your life to them , they come in and take 15% of your pay away & vacation time and pension and we will see your Happy face then , so say good bye to your Family life & your house and your friends because you wont be seeing much of them any more .............. Have a Nice Day & Welcome Aboard

Not mouthy just making point. If it’s that horrible why stay? Right now making a decision to better my situation and if it’s as horrible as you say I’ll take my 20 yrs accident free years and move on. Life is to short to live in misery.
