R&L | Lytek Camera

Do you live in New England? If you don't then you don't know the stress of constant idiots cutting you off and the constant readjustment to keep your following distance above 2 seconds.
The idiot's are everywhere. If your backing out and at least trying to leave space you shouldn't have a problem. They're looking for drivers blowing stop signs, running red lights, excessive tailgating, speeding.

Are your trucks equipped with lane departure warnings and alarms if someone is next to you with your turn signal on?
Yes on the newer trucks.
We have lane departure warnings and they go off, if you cross the line without signalling. If you have several of those, the watchers will activate the camera to see, if there is some reason for you "weaving dangerously." It's coming they just do it in bits and drabs.

We've had several city guys coached for backing in off of a road, not reacting fast enough on the brake even though they were blatantly and illegally cut off and coming to a stop past the white stop bar. They slow rolled up to the stop sign but stopped, fully, beyond the white line due to obstructed lines of sight for cross traffic.

Coached for backing in off a road?! Would they prefer we pull in forward and back out blindly into traffic?

Not real sure. The driver told TM it was the only way to get into customer, TM's reply was "well OK, just be careful" TM has been with company in excess of 20 years as dispatch/silver bullet before getting TM gig.

I was coached for exactly that. A car ahead of me that I was keeping more than 2 seconds from, decided to get into the turn lane at the last minute but didn't have room to get over and stopped in my lane. I brought it to a stop and got a late braking event. I am not happy about that because if I was late braking, I would have hit him, not stopped with plenty of time to spare.

That crap is going to be an issue I'll bet in the future. If your not allowed to back into stops, I guess they better put more straight trucks on. LOL

If the cam got triggered, you done sumthin we dont like, thats it bottom line

Requirements of gettin the job done ya mighta been doin the last 10 years be damned
Yup. Heck, I have customers that literally have their docks off the street. No other choice but to back from the street.

If you want to watch your videos and see your "score", you can go to https://login.lytx.com/ and where it says user name, type in your terminal code and the last 5 of your badge number and password will be Safety123. Make sure the S is capitalized on safety.

Thanks. I remember seeing the guy on RLC tv talking about how we could see our videos, but nobody at my terminal knew how.

That would cut out most of my deliveries
I have several stops I am only able to back in off road.....blindside. If they coach me just one time on those particular stops they will then be required to send a bobtail to those locations. Don't coach me on something that can't be controlled. That being said have any of you heard about the driver getting caught on his phone by a state trooper? He got 5000 and R&L received a 25000 fine? If company sees phone in your hand it's immediate termination. Just fyi.

How would sending a straight truck solve this problem? Wouldn’t it still have to be backed in? I must be missing something as to what objection management has with backing off the street and what is their safer alternative? That last question is the first question I would want answered if I were in your shoes.
