Fuel mileage. Most drivers I know just drive to deliver and pick-up freight.

The place where they think there's some savings is idle time. So now there are lists up of drivers ( by employee number , no names ) ranking your fuel consumption. P&D drivers lumped in with linehaul. Medium duty tractors lumped in with light duty tractors.

If it's cold outside , I expect a driver to keep the truck running to stay warm. If it's hot outside , I expect a driver to keep the truck running to stay cool. This is the driver's office where they do business for the company. That's the cost of business for the driver to be comfortable ( just like the rest of the folks in the office all day )
Self fixed the idle time issue by programming it’s trucks to only idle for 2 minutes then auto shut off.

Below 30° farenheit , Freightliners will idle all day long. If it's warmer than that , I'll just bump the throttle when the check engine light starts blinking.

Lol. No they won’t. -38, shuts off after 3 min.

Okay. I don't normally drive a Cascadia but 30° and below , during idle , set the cruise while parked , and it will idle all day long. At least the ones I've driven.

Don't know if applies to all of them or if I explained it correctly , but , yes it's true. ( I've only done it on automatics , so it may just be newer units )

We have taken care of it locally, if you get my drift.

I drive 2013 freight line only the 2016 and newer will stay running. I've tried everything

I heard a FOS asking city drivers if they idled during lunch. Most said “depends on the temperature”. I’d say the same for me at night. My 2017 idles when it’s cold after the check engine light comes on once.

I drive a 2013 never stays running at any temperature only 2016and newer models will at certain temperatures
I'll have to check to see the model year of the Cascadia I use from time to time.

Being able to keep tractors idling in cold weather strikes me as a safety issue. In the case of a breakdown , wreck , or some type of traffic problem keeping you from moving , you should have the option of keeping the vehicle running without having to bump the throttle.

They used to idle under 30 degrees. When they turned them up to 70, they took that feature away and never gave it back

I agree I have had a sterling shut off on me while pulling out of or yard. Was waiting to pull out while watching traffic I never saw the engine light flash and the time it took to move my foot from the brake to the gas it shut down. There I sat blocking the whole street while I turned the key off waited for the reset and the started it again. But hey that not a safety issue

In my 2019 I drive and in the 2011 I use to drive all you had to do was press on the brake pedal instead of having to bump the gas.
I think they system should be set up that once the parking brake is released it should run for at least 30mins before the shut down light come on

The shop that services our tractors retired a 2012 because it was going to cost too much too fix. So they unretired a 2006 Sterling to replace it. Glad I still have my Sterling key!
They did that to 2 of our 2011. Didn't want to spend more money on them. Now they screwed themselves because now when you take a truck to the shop they have nothing to give you.

I keep hearing Ford Heights,IL. Also heard they going to close the FAC at XDP and XAU when new Gary terminal is done. Everything going east will go to Gary...Everything going west will go to Lasalle.
Say it isn't soooo. So many on here are saying there is no reinvestment into the company....Why would he do that some say he just milking us for money.

Why is it soooooooo hard for XPO to figure out the dockworker situation?

Are any other LTL's offering $3000 worth of bonuses to lure people to work for them?

The pay is too low. Needs to start in $20s and top out near $25. A one time bonus is cheaper than setting wages higher. Most people can figure that out. Other carriers have a higher wage structure than xpo which will make it hard to compete

XPO is leading the race to the bottom on driver compensation. The others are having to cut bennies like xpo or not give much of a wage increase like fedex this past fall to be able to keep rates low enough not to lose customers
