XPO | Sic Sold

TFI's mantra has always been to go after fledgling operations. Companies in distress. Not usually companies in good situations. XPO LTL is still larger than all of their operations combined. Not saying it wouldn't happen but in my opinion it is doubtful. The closest they came to buying anything that was successful was when they took over CF (Canada) which was making money but struggling with identity and links to their bread and butter which was the US market after the fall of CF (US). If you think of US LTL's that are struggling then I think you would be closer to what they would look at. Like I said, anything is possible but in my personal opinion (which doesn't mean much) I don't see them as a viable suitor for XPO LTL if Jacobs were to put us on the market. They might kick the tires but I doubt they get behind the wheel.

Was at there web site. The just look like any other Logistic management provide out there. More or less little or no trucks of there own and have contract or agreements with many different carriers

If he wants a pure play LTL why would he need to buy anyone? This industry has always operated the same since I came into it. If you want the freight, you can get it. You might not make any money from it at the start, but once you've secured market share you start forcing companies to close, then you get to boost rates afterwards. Just depends on how deep your pockets are. He could have started doing that the day he bought us, but he didn't.

Because he is all about being number one. And this would instantly make the resulting company the biggest LTL in north America in both volume and revenue.

And would be the second stupidest move after Bill Zollars fiasco.

How can you say that ??? Jacobs is every bit the part for the job. He will do what Zollars couldn’t. Think about it. Invest in electric tractors for city delivery at the old Con-way, while eliminating an expensive and inefficient line haul operation. And continue diesel tractors and line haul operations at the old HNRY while eliminating some really poorly running city operations.

It’s a marriage for the future.

Buying any company with the debt load that YRCW has is foolish in the least. What would he be getting for his money other than double the debt he has now? smh

Would get some nicer equipment then some XPO terminals have now ! YRC in my area has nicer tractors then 50% of the tractors at my barn !

This guy is a book cooker. Chef Ramsey don’t know these recipes. But he can use that debt to manipulate things. It’s really what he does. Very rarely does he have a CFO. And when he does it’s to handle specific transactions. Not the company’s finances.

He could buy a lot of nice new equipment for less than the purchase price and all of YRCWs debt, would be a very dumb move.

Dumb move. Perfect ! You should see the daily amount of dumb crap that has become acceptable. A very dumb move sounds like just another day.

It must be a regional thing but most of our trailers have been replaced in the last couple of years and we have several new trucks.
It is not really a regional thing. What it is is the same ole' drivers bitchin' and moaning over and over. Year after year. It has become comical. To them XPO sucks. Jacob's sucks. Equipment sucks. Benefits suck. EVERYTHING SUCKS! However they all continue working here. They don't have the "cojones" to leave only to complain. I come here for the jokes.

It’s a very large company in a very large country. We are not all living the same experiences or enjoying the same opportunities with the same options.

I just whacked the like button as if it was a Jeopardy buzzer.

You cannot deny other people's experience and perspective, but you also cannot insist that they adopt yours. You need to keep an eye on the big picture, or else everyone just talks right past each other- frustrated because the rest of the world is blind.

Some took the move to put a stop to the taking and to an extent they have been successful in slowing that and I believe most that experienced what we have would do the same .To leave and go to another carrier is always an option but people have a lot of years vested into a company they help build and feel strongly about not letting it deteriorate.
There is a big difference in from region to region and terminal to terminal. Some locations are nothing but country clubs and pressure on the drivers is low. ( that’s no dig against them). Some are located in areas that have almost no jobs that pay a decent middle class wage and are thankful that Xpo gives them what they do have . People at those terminals can’t understand why others are so upset because they never experienced high turnover, mass terminations( 15 a year ) rampant discrimination and favoritism , jobs that pay more in wages and benefits, ect.
I can wholly understand their position and acceptance of status quo.
Yes there are many different situations and opinions based on different experiences.

Take Aurora for instance a large number of drivers left over the last year to take jobs at UPS that will gain them much better wages and benefits. This left a large hole in union support and that and a promise of a small pay raise led to a decert vote . The remaining drivers at Aurora gain nothing . The guys that left hopefully are in a better position.
Is this a big win for the company? I guess in the short term maybe, but they lost a hell of a lot of good experienced workers to a better compensating employer. In a tight driver market that’s not a great thing.
I have learned (for the most part ) not to be critical of people’s opinions and what drives them until you walked a mile in their shoes. Yes people will wine every where you go but to criticize them for doing so because your situation may be different is wrong . There are wide spread difference in this company.

So we all have a choice to make. As you say those with vested years don't want to see it die, but what control do they have over that? Those that have stayed have put there seniority at the top of there list while the one that moved on choose other items to put on top of there list. I quit my last job and came here for one reason and that was home time. I had less stress, less physical work, no dock work, and made more. Took a pay cut to come here, but in the long run I make more now. We all have our own reason for leaving or staying.

You decide alone on what you will accept. Your tolerance may be greater than what other will accept in degradation of your treatment or compensation. That’s your choice. Don’t fault others for not accepting that degradation. Xpo is not alone in this race to the bottom. It is an industry wide problem for drivers In Ltl.
I’m cool with you accepting the status quo. I may disagree with you , but you have the right to work for less . God know we here it all the time “everybody else does this or only has that”
Some people will have higher expectations then you and yes others like you will settle all the way to the bottom.

So what you are saying is because I have no interest in the union I will setting for the bottom?
In my post I said we all have a choice to make and gave my reason for MY choice of coming here. That does not mean I staying here forever. Time will tell. I was pointing out that some put seniority and vacation time on top of their list while some put different items on top of theirs.
