Have you ever tried going over his head? I found out you have to get ahold of someone at the fort. If you just call his boss they bury it to cover each other.if your tm is not doing his job then the region manager looks bad and he will cover his butt. Go to the top for results the fort gets involved things will get settled
It’s been brought up many times on here that the employees @ 184 would like some type of meeting with someone outside this terminal & nothing ever happens....Better yet have a talk with the supervisor’s, clerk & salesperson. You won’t even need that meeting with the drivers after talking with them....

I feel your frustration brother. The employees of 381 are in the same boat. We even had someone call the fort with various issues, mostly with the TM stealing time and the investigation consisted of the regional vp asking him about it. He lied of course. The way I know this is because he went around asking who called on him because it pisses him off. The funny thing about that is he didn't deny it, just said it made him angry. LOL All the fort would have had to do is ask the office people like you said. One of the things I would love to know is with these time clocks we have why aren't all employees required to punch it? Or is it only us lowly deceitful union truck drivers that are capable of stealing time?

Several years ago a terminal manager with many years with the company was spending more time away from the job than at the terminal. The employees were covering for him & the terminal was running smoothly. Management noticed that he seldom answered the phone. Eventually the hatchet man showed up & after waiting for quite a while the TM did come back to the terminal. The TM, after surrendering his keys, laptop etc. was escorted off company property. I understood the ex TM had greatly improved his golf scores while employed by ABF.

Sound's exactly like my terminal except for the golf, he enjoys water parks....

When you complain to the fort you MUST provide a log of his or her poor management skills. Trailers loaded with the first stops in the nose. 3 drivers sent to the same customer to pick up 1 or 2 skids. Delivery's calling for a lift gate for delivery & you have none. Unloading a heavy/bulky piece of freight that calls for 2 to deliver, but dispatch says 'do the best you can I can't spare anyone'. Customer not called when freight bill or your screen on the hand held clearly states 'call 1 hour before delivery'. Arriving @ a customer who let you & dispatch know the week before they would be closed. But dispatch said try anyway, they might be open. You tell dispatch you last delivery will close in 1 hour, but they say go make a pick up near by first & you have to wait for a dock door making it impossible to kick off the last delivery because they closed by the time you got there. When all or most of the drivers make these kind of notes to support your phone call to the Fort, then you have a chance. BUT, there is no point in making the call. For to find 2, much much less 10 Teamsters drivers to agree on the time of the sunrise, well never mind. Other things in life worth wasting your time on. von.

There was an accounting of time. I will give you an example. He told one of his pals last year he was out of vacation time till May, this was in February. He took off the first day of fishing season and the day after Easter, how do you do that with no days? Everytime school is cancelled or delayed due to snow he takes off and gives pathetic excuses such as a sore throat or my favorite is that his dog had diarrhea and pooped on the floor. You can't make this up! Lmao

Those excuses are good ones that seem to work, if management accepts them. Change TM's or Operations Supervisor & that might change. Until then accept it. Management does. von.

Once an individual gets away with this type of activity, all the other employee's can get away with the same activity without repercussion. Management has to treat every situation the same.

Oops, My bad, thanks for heads up on my misunderstanding.

Yeah,.....Management has a different set of....."standards".......that are distinctly...umm.....

Well.....Let's just say that the Ol' Saying about teachers can be applied to management.....

"Those that Can,....Do.....And Those that Can't,.....Manage..."

Now that the dash cam's are installed it seems my Tm can't step away from his screen from watching our every move, & now he is encouraging others in the office to join in. He is even going as far as taking still pictures. Any other terminals having this problem? I thought they were going to be used in case of a accident? Can they use the footage for discipline. Seeing how slow we are one would think the TM would be out selling, but after several years here and zero accounts why start now.
Had a driver called into the office this week because he ran a stop sign, it was two day's after it took place. The Tm played the video for him. I thought it would only record a minute before & a minute after? If it's recording a minute before then it's always recording. I also thought it was to be set off if a incident took place such as hard braking? I'm no genus but when you run a stop sign brakes were probably not used. Is this happening at other terminals or is the Tm over extending (abusing) the contractual use of the cameras? Let me add no discipline was issued & don't know if any can be? Seem more like a form of harassment then anything....

If you watch the videos for the cameras they have in them trucks it reads stop signs and speed limit signs. Them cameras post warnings to the company if the company has a set up that way. Sounds like safety is getting bored and playing with equipment to me.

They had the guy with the first stop sign but the 2nd one which is 25 feet from the first one reads don’t stop if your over 40tf long the driver had a set. It’s a very screwed up on ramp....

Yes, off 309
If anything went in his file it might be used against him down the road in another hearing. I believe employee discussions can be used against you in a hearing. Especially discharge. I also think your case is make or break upon how much support you get from the hall. von.
