Workers Receive Positive Results Right Away

Eight clerical workers at Roadway Express in Brooklyn, New York now have a stronger voice and a union contract after voting to join Local 707.

In early February, the workers voted to join the Brooklyn-based local. A majority of the workers had signed authorization cards, leading up to a non-NLRB (National Labor Relations Board) election. DS.

A proud day indeed for my coworkers and my Local. Saving $50 per week is like getting an instant pay raise. Also, initiation was waived and they also received pension credit. Now, let's see how many of them show up to Union Meetings.

Hey Animo.....I thought about you when I posted this. Back in the mid 90's our office staff became Teamsters. Our TM was quoted as saying this would never happen......well it did and he was moved to 511. Having the office workers on the same "team" is a big plus!! :1036316054: DS.

only thing i didn't understand is why it took them 15 years to organize !!!!!
anyway they are still very welcome

Sometimes it takes a while to smell the coffee.

I have only been at this terminal for 7 1/2 years. From what I have seen, there was usually fair treatment between the office and the upper managers. I guess things soured when the new TM came on board and the office workers felt they needed to be treated more fairly and have better protections.
