XPO | What the BIGGEST slap in the face about being a Conway linehauler...

Slap

Talk about a slap, has anyone read the proxy statement dated 3-09-07 ( DEF-14A ), posted on the NYSE Group? I already know how I will vote. For those that have not received there`s yet, don`t use it to line the bird cage until you have read it. On second hand forget it, forget I said anything, the vast number of employee`s don`t care anyway`s about anything anyhow.

my opinion the real slap in the face is when the I/B supervisor cusses you out for being 15 minutes or so late w/out calling him and telling him you took a break. mind you only fifteen minutes his operation was slowed could you imagine what he would have done if i took my whole hour the fedral government and DOT allow me to have??
all i can say is at least i was only 15 minutes past my ETA because next time they will be picking the freight up out of the ditch. i REFUSE to stop and take a break from this day forward.

First, why is that supervisor speaking to you like that and using language that offends you? H/R call 1. Did he tell you you can't take a break? If so thats a call to the Illinois labor dept. I have the SPRINGFIELD office's number if you would like it. Go on and take all your breaks and enjoy every minute. If you want to really skin him call the ethics hot line and really push it in.:chairshot:

i agree with you george, i wouldn't give up my 10:30pm start time. it's like getting a 3 day weekend every week. home by 9 - 10 am saturday, all sunday and monday til 10:30pm.

LMAO, hey sport, Ive been on linehaul for years. I know just how long and great those weekends can be. Get home early saturday morning, already been up 10-12 hours. If you dont take a LONG nap, as soon as you eat dinner a sit down, your done for.:Zzzz: As for Mondays, you better sleep the better half of the day or youll be sleeping at the wheel. :TR10driving03: That really only leaves sunday as your WEEKEND. Now if you choose to not sleep on saturday or get proper sleep on monday, which I have done many times, then your taking years off your life. The last study I saw on working nights, not to mention linehaul hours, burning the candle at both ends. They admitted your are shortening your life span, they said the bottom line is GET OFF OF THE NIGHT SHIFT! So you can say you have a three day weekend, BUT I KNOW BETTER! :hysterical:

who want s to run linehaul on saturday affternoon

I love the fact that linehaul finaly got things right not running linehaul tonight. I wonder what got them thinking mayb it was the fact that alot of guys would probably get stranded and have to get put up in hotels or mayb it was the recent accident that killed one of our portland drivers 2 weeks ago in a ice storm.

but after the last storm and the interstates in Pa being shutdown so long what makes operation think they'll be passible by 7am tomorrow?

ETA means Estimated Time of Arrival, you might get there earlier, you might get there later, you might get there ON TIME, but you will get there with the freight and equipment intact and the the freight will service. some I/B supervisors do not under stand this

nor do they care. It is all about the freight.

Being on the flex wheel and watching 5 or more drivers come thru on Vias (some bringing sets of emptys all going 60 plus miles out of their way)to take away my run...Thanx Conway :butt kiss:

I feel that the l/h crew company wide is slapped in the face in just about everyway possible. I have been on l/h from day one and have had no life for ten years and two divorces. As far as vacation pay the previous company I worked for paid 450 miles a day for vacation. From what I understand FedEx pays an average of what they made the previous year. There is no need for the backup on Friday nights anymore in my opinion! It's purpose passed many years ago but it's something that the dinosaurs up north can't turn loose of. We spend 14-16 hrs a day away from home and then they always seem to find some new game or b/s to eat up some more time. Then you are expected to always be on time for a system that never is. Then at the end of the week get home in the afternoon on Saturday and take a short nap. Have a short evening and then you get one whole day off on Sunday and on Monday do necessary bill/home things, get afternoon nap, and it's back to the neverending cycle again. We definitely are crapped upon constantly and consistently and get zero respect!

I worked at CCX for a couple of months, I hated driving the 1-- miles to Des Plaines to bust it on a dock with a supervisor watching my every move. How do they get away with calling that Linehaul? My 12 hour logs had maybe 4 1/2 hours of driving.

This job at ConWay sounds real great I think I'll quit my union job and work for Con-Way

I really miss it, you should give it a try. If you can wait 5 years to get up to 'full scale', afford to pay 1% of your gross for a 'benefit' like health insurance, and really like 'seniority' rules, it's actually a good job. If you have enough money to buy the bosses a round they will take care of you! :butt kiss:

Hey bigrob!!

I'm trying to figure out if your being sarcastic bout the 1% donation for your health insurance or if you are serious. Do you think 1 % is too much to pay for health or what. I myself thought it is extremely fair compared to what I have been quoted by other companies that I have inquired to.In one case health ins. would have cost me close to 300 per month!! BTW that particular job paid $12 per hr with no ot pd.
