hooking sets at LCP

I think that you guys are being alittle hard on our BA. I have asked Kenmax00 for info. If I get it soon enough, I will file. Any available people will get paid for the hooks. I've done it several times before when linehaul would sneak in some foreign drivers to do hooks. It just has to be reported to the right people within the proper time constraint You get nothing done by slammin people. I don't want to throw stones here but we are suppose to be the "International Brotherhood of Teamsters".:1036316054:

I have to say Thank You to Kenmax00 for the information, But the truth is the truth about our BA

I have'nt recieved any names or numbers yet. So I hope I recieve them prior to the time expiring to file. Concerning our BA, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Putting that negative stuff here solves absolutely nothing towards helping the ever struggling labor movement.

hooking

Thanks Kenmax00, I will try to run with info you gave me. In any event, my BA had called me on another issue and I informed him of this situation. It will be dealt with. Having worked in the yard, it is easy for them to slide this stuff by the yard jockeys. We catch some, we miss some. It would be nice if Yellow would follow the contract. To much to ask for sometimes. In any event, I thank you for your post. If you see any more of this, send me a message. Again, Thanks:1036316054: Working together is what this site is about.

If I was told to hook my own set somewhere I wouldn't refuse but I'd damn sure flag down a hostler before I even started hooking and give him my name, the numbers and whatever else he asked for. When Yellow pays enough of these they'll stop doing it.

Forced to hook your own sets

Just to reiterate, if dispatch tells you to hook your own sets "DO NOT REFUSE"

Tell one of the yard men and let them take it from there

Why would they want to when no one stands up to them? We have a contract but no one wants to enforce it, how many grievances have you seen withdrawn with rights? Or, better yet, those little side deals. Sorry but when I go in or file a grievance I expect to win or put up a good fight, not, to run and say sorry for bugging you.

Thats why we have triple time penalty in our contract. If they tell us to string it, they pay, as long as yard guy should have been able to string!!! Doesn't happen much except in New York state. I think they just don't care there, lol.

In the south, if terminal fails to string set that has been scheduled to run together, we collect a 4 hr. penalty for the violation plus time spent building set. Of course, some conditions have to be met...

If we go into a terminal with a hostler on duty (he has to be clocked in on hostler job code) and they refuse to change us, we collect a 2 hr. penalty, plus any time spent waiting, plus time spent doing the actual drop/hook...

We usually don't have much trouble at the larger, break terminals down here (other than long waits). This usually occurs at satellites with the change refusals and dark satellites with the pre-string violations...

answer to hooks

The yard steward did check the situation out. All jockeys, available combos were exhausted. When that happens, the driver is paid to hook. LCP is hiring 5 jockeys. So it was a permissible move by the company according to the contract. End of story. I will say thanks to kenmaxoo for keeping his eye out for his brother Teamsters.:1036316054:

Maybe I'm wrong here ,but I would not think that should happen at a break bulk terminal the size as LCP.The company knows how much freight is comming and going and there is no excuse for not having enough people to do their respective job.In my opinion I would file on it and get a teamster paid for that time,if not ,there goes your yard work, road drivers will do it. What comes next ? Road drivers called in to work the dock when their board is exausted. The company will use any atvantage that they can to screw us and if we let them get away with it then shame on us.
