Did FEDEX do it right or did they do it wrong on the merger?

Vote!

Explain....

They should have done this right away instead of waiting years, giving us the false image that this situation would't be happening right now..

The LTL business hauls freight from business to business. That market is on it's back, There is no confidence in this economy among small and medium businesses. That is where we operate. I am sure they did not want to do this. I can't say for sure if it was right but, I have been reconfigured 5 times in 15 years and moved once. Best of luck to all including me.

not that FedEx cares about money but look how much money was lost with duplicated service. every day myself and the national driver hit the docks at the same customers 3-4 times. the pamphlet that went out Friday with all the city drivers was well received and long overdo per the customers i spoke with. thanks for 1 less truck clogging our docks and the simplified b.o.l. WHY SO LONG?

they could done it from the beginning but fdx smart hold it out so they can do some tax write off and now they do it again right b 4 the year end so it another tax write off .Yes that would be nice if they just say you all can come and join us because you got buy out but no they keep it in two so they can test the market and keep all the Watkins customer on board same driver with different trk color .They have a good plan guy .have to give uncle Fred some credit for all this even. All come down to it is the number big number.

fed ex didnt get here by being stupid, but they need to use common sense too, one man board would have been the right thing to do

It needed to be done but now is just a bad time. With jobs gone and the folks at YRC teetering again there just really is no place for the displaced drivers to go. I understand they have to cut costs but why do they always do this stuff right around the holidays to ruin people's Christams? Timing is everything and their timing usually sucks!

Fedex may be a great company to some but to others it is very deceitful. They had all these 33 drivers come from all over the country, many at their own expense to full fill the need for line haul drivers out of benson arizona and some bought homes after 7 months only to learn that they had made a great mistake by trusting fedex. They are now offered to move to the cold snowy weather running the I40 ice road out of holbrook. They knew just what they were doing at the trusting drivers expense. The purple promise is a big joke.

Hind sight is 20/20. Did I see it coming,"no". Is this a good thing for the company/ corp. and share holders, "yes". Will it affect my family in a bad way, "yes". Do I think the " Company/Corporation" cares about the people it affects,"Yes". We have good people that do care about "what's going to happen" to it's employees and the consumer. I did not like the surgical strike and the well thought out plan, that's going to affect "us" both National and Freight, alike. The company has to survive!!! And there are some rules, the company has to follow. Maybe, some of you Freight Drivers will "SHOW SOME CLASS AND WELCOME NATIONAL DRIVERS" into the real company. We've had enough of the "Change is a good thing" speeches. And," You should be thankful you have a job, BS" to last a life time. There are people, that are really hurt, by this new plan. Good luck to everyone, "You are in my prayers"!!!

Customer confusion is never good. Before I worked here I drove for a company that shipped FedEx on occasion. We would have National drivers waiting for Freight drivers to get out of the door. Nothing like organization. "Hay, catch that FedEx driver and tell him to put it back in the door, we just had another order drop!" Me, "Which one?"

In the long run I know this will benefit the company and make us stronger.

As long as they remember that my loyalty to them is tied to my bank account, we will do just fine. I will do my best with this company as long as they are still the ones depositing money in my account.

I agree with most of what you say. However, FedEx could not care less about what happens to their employees. They didn't care about the full time dockworkers with 18 years or more invested, they didn't care about their families, and they didn't care about the up-tick in damaged freight because of hiring college kids who need book and beer money. There is a glut of drivers now. People will take any job they can find. Employees mean about as much to FedEx as a pallet jack. Useful until they need to be fixed, then we'll just buy another one.

The merge had to happen. It should have happened at the git go. We'd be used to it and more stable. Instead, they waited until now for reasons that I don't understand. They announce it and leave the SC managers swinging in the wind looking stupid because they can't answer the most basic questions about the merger other than handing out a couple of sheets of paper that gives no information except for a time line.

I expect we'll get more "it's not a problem, it's an opportunity" & "think of how many would love to have your job" speeches and slick handouts in the months to come. Please, save your time corporate. Save the travel expense of sending out cubicle dwellers to the real work areas and save the printing costs. We don't buy it anymore.

FedEx is a corp., it doesn't smile and say "good morning" when you come to work. People do! It doesn't ask you about your kids or how your weekend was. Our people do. FedEx can't smile, joke, kid, show concern, listen, help, talk, remember birthdays, have a charity drive to sponsor a needy family for Christmas. But, my terminal, the people I worked with at Watkins/Fedkins/National did all that. Maybe, the ones lucky enough to keep a job, can take that with them to Freight. I think, if we show respect, we will get it in return. We know that we can do the job, so show them at Freight, how good we really are. No, I didn't drink the "Purple cool-ade" it's WHISKEY, 10-4 And to my old meet, Mr PENN STATE, I hate them Buckeyes too, "Thanks for the call"!

you're wrong lowcoe (loco), it's not the PURPLE PROMISE, that saying is meant for customers. It's PEOPLE FIRST! Which we all know is a BIG JOKE!!!

let me tell you ,merging sucks, reddaway and bestway, they were suposed to take the best of both companys ,but they didnt, all those guy that worked for bestway and sucked got to come over with all there strap they all should be new hires that the way it should be for you guys ,that way they can weed out the weak.

I understand they have to cut costs

A good place to cut costs would have been to eliminate the 10 million dollars spent on FedEx Cup Golf and the 5-6 million spent on the NASCAR operation. I think
they might be into tennis also, but I'm not quite sure. Do they really need a FedEx field?

The fact that YRC is still in business is the main reason we are going through this in the first place! They would have needed the capacity had they went under as expected.
