FedEx Freight | Are you guys real?

When your health starts going south on you and you have 2 sons that you know are too incompetent to run you company what would you have done?
But you completely missed the point. The point was both companies were sold with no regards to the employees. At Watkins we ended up with those two incompetent sons. Like I said be careful what you ask for in life. Choose wisely Grasshopper !!!

It's theirs , they can sell it shut it down or do whatever they want at anytime.

Mr Garrison did what he thought was best for us no matter what you say I worked for the man you didn't he knew what would happen if he did not do something before Tom and Will got hold of his baby yes American Freight was his baby........

When is the last time any have heard this?

While Garrison
is always acutely aware of what is happening
in his organization, he does not
interfere with employees’ job performance.
His philosophy is simple: “Leave
people alone to do what they are hired
to do.” That’s especially true in the
transportation business, he notes, offering
this advice to new leaders: “People
in trucking like freedom and dislike
being overly supervised. Train people,
then let them succeed.”

It's theirs , they can sell it shut it down or do whatever they want at anytime.

I didn't say they couldn't. All I said was the same thing happened to AF that happened to Watkins. The both got the stool kicked out from under them. I guess it's a good thing we didn't have that noose aroung our necks yet. But like I said in an earlier post I'm moving on to let some of the other drivers with families maybe get a chance to keep their job. "And that's all I got to say about that"

The real deal here is a bad economy coupled with unprofitable business. Obviously similar circumstances at YRC, ABF, and all the other ltl companies. Shipments are not weighing as much, there are fewer shipments available, more companies are selling to larger companies thereby moving under deeply discounted rates and by the way the 3rd party logistics companies are drowning the carriers profits. There's just not enough profit in the good freight to carry the badly priced freight. I dont think that Fedex Corporate picked one company over another. The simply looked at their infrastructures and did what made the most sense. And unless you live under a rock a merger was bound to happen one day.. Just came sooner than most expected. If everyone just mans up and remains civil to one another and make the best of an unpopular decision this whole consolidation will be easier. The cards will be dealt in the next week. Make your decision for your family and try not to have hard feelings for whatever decision others make. Many people will be negatively financially impacted and their homelives may be compromised. It will be a tough two weeks while they deal out the new employment to everyone. Stay calm and dont let your emotions get the best of you. There are worse things in life than a job change. Put it all into perspective. Fedex offers us respectable insurance at costs much less than other ltl carriers. We have better vacation and days off than others and we have a small pension to look forward to. If we all TRY to have a positive attitude and put our thoughts upon those losing their job appreciation for a job can return and this will be the best ltl carrier out there to grow and bring back jobs. Just keeping things positive!

Ditto all that! Well stated. :clapping:

What exactly do you expect anyone to do? Have a new Revolution against this outrageous tyranny?

Hell ,most people don't even know that that is what is truly going on here. And unlike the founders ,each man is on his own, in this new world order we have. We will hang as individuals, not a unified group.

Kneel down to your new masters and kiss their feet. This goes way past losing a job, WD.

We will no longer be a free nation if this treason is allowed to continue much longer. May God help us all.

Rush has been pushing that term into the deep corners of foolish braindead working man followers for 20 years....'rugged individualis"......the northern states knew the slavery that that concept was heading to..but hopefully it's not too late...I think it may be...soon they will be saying "It's ok to hit me on my bakc with the whip Massa....as long as the company turns a profit and i still make 20 dollars/ in 24 hours.

Right on driver! :1036316054: I've been caught in one buy out and two mergers so far since I've been trucking and I've survived them all and I'll get thru this one too!

That's one issue Americans need to get over. They are NOT rugged individuals for the most part. You don't need cops for instance if you can handle your own affairs but to be honest cops work for the. STATE not for the public. We are operating under false assumptions and we will soon be living in a locked down police state.

Real individuals would have long ago thrown these pos rulers to the gallows but as we see, they still think they can vote themselves out of this mess. That is not possible.

America, as we knew her is gone.

Long live America the Great. May she be remembered in history in her fade into extinction in the 21st century, by her elite masters.

the 1700 nat people losing their jobs you speak of are management at duplicate centers. My understanding is that in most of these situations they took freight over nat management because of Lakeland managements resistence to do things as they were told. They had become an albatross and were sinking both companies. As usual middle managers and producing employees take the hit. We are projected to lose over 100 drivers and other employees between the 2 companies in the Mem area. I just hope most land on their feet. Companies have to make tough decisions like this from time to time. I myself am not crazy about it, but have to hope that it works out in the long run.

Yeah they say now 1700 will lose there job.We will see the real number come Jan 31 , my guess is it will much more than 1700

Yeah over 500 people in Lakeland, FL are losing their job but almost all of them are not drivers but I feel for them more because it is easier to find a job driving a truck. If you are a Manager, Supervisor, or even a Dispatcher imagine how hard it is going to be on them in this economy. I have been driving since 1995 and I have had a lot of jobs this being the best by far no matter how bad you think this company is it is the best truck driving company out there. If you don't think it is go somewhere else and we will see you back in a year or two trying to get back on.

When FDXF combined east and west they closed our hedquarters in San Jose Ca.Over 300 people lost their jobs in that one.
We also lost a great bunch of people in our centeral dispatch.A lot of us old VIKING drivers had known these people for quite a few years. the ones that were able to transfer to Harrison don't sound like the same people any more. They used to talk to you with a smile in their voice but now they sound like monitone drones.
So Darkstuka don't feel like no one else in this company has never been through what you are expeiriancing now, because we have.

Good luck to you.

what the? y'all let wild deuce do this to y'all. He posted one time and y'all made a novel out of it and he's probably kicking back and enjoying every bit of it. I believe he did this for just that reason

Hey fellas, I just got registered, been absent for a while....I was caught up in the workforce reduction in December of 2009, got laid off. Very difficult for my family and I. Saw a light at the end of the tunnel and ran towards it, it was a job with a competitor, but it was a job, so I took it. This LTL carrier never spoke of layoffs, or workforce reductions, cutting pay, or anything else, just keeping their people happy. The whole time I was there, I got repeated phone calls to come back to FedEx. After a year and a half, I gave in. I've been back for almost 90 days, and its not looking good for me. All I can ask is that for those of you that have time with the company, just keep us bottom guys on your prayer list, because from where I am now, I'm gonna need a bunch of them. No hard feelings towards you National guys, it is what it is. I was told today, if we could put more freight on our trailers, I might have a chance, SO, lets all work together to make this the biggest and baddest LTL company there ever was. God Bless All of you.

it is what it is i saw merger when watkins was sold everybody said no way it will never hapen but i am an old uck ans wait and see dont know where i will be when the smoke clears tuesday God will see me thru just remember all of need a job dont hate becaus you are down on the board and dont gloat if you are up just do the job hands and do it with respect to others

Apparently that idea never really took hold in HRO.
