Fedex wreck

Gee to bad a little time saved, cost him a lot of trouble.
Gotta think things through before you act on any hunches you may have.

Maybe this is something he has been doing for a long time, however someone else's error got him in a world of hurt this time.

The 'book' says $25,000.00 and/or 5 years. Loss of CDL for life, and the overview would be complete personal destitutions: because of "stupid".

I hauled long steel for a 'few' years, fully dressed out 'stretch' trailers. As the only Company Driver, I had to Examine myself every year, there was no one in the plant that had a clue about the FMCSR: except that they had a Yard Inspection, and their Insurance went nuts; until I was Hired, with the "H" Endorsement. (Hence my CB handle, the 'Double H', or Highway Hog)

After nearly 45 years of driving, I Retired to Social Security, but not for one reason alone. My old job at the steel fabricator, the Plant Manager shown me where here in Georgia, the Worker Comp. Classification changed because of Hazmat, and I was shown where the Premium was more than I Earned... They went to VALCOM over Worker Comp., but VALCOM couldn't provide a Driver with Hazmat, except me. No thanks, I said, that was 6 or 7 years ago. The 'H' is more valuable than even being Teamster, which I have also done. Yep, both sides and Management too ...

The D.O.T. won't just fry him for Dinner, they will go after the big fish with something like this, and from other FedEx posts I've read, they are already doing it.

If FedEx has a Management Environment of 'Scofflaw' towards the FMCSR, as my employer had, they will look at every piece of paper in FedEx's business, for a Citation Count, over the entire time of their being in business. That would be $25,000.00 times Count.

There is no question why another post concerned Contractors, etc.. FedEx for all they are worth, may have lost their Insurer.

Most Interesting, I'll be following this from a Shipping Management perspective.

If so, each Log he turned with with that mileage deficit, would be a single count.

Used to be to get into Shipping you had to have Experience with the Customers. Now, with cut-throat Salesmen, it's not important.

Now the game is milking every Dollar possible out of the shipment, damn either end.

That's coming home in a big way.

I've always said, driving out of route is like humping someone other than your wife.......it's lots of fun till you get caught. The thing is, anything can happen and it doesn't have to be your fault. But if you're out of route, you're gone.
