FedEx Freight | Two years and then BAM!!!

I don't know what might be worse. All this not knowing what to expect from day to day or having a daily case of priapism and not being able to hide it or do anything else about it.

Sorry to hear of anyone losing their job, I don't wish that even on people I don't like.

The weird thing is that FDX National has internal job postings listed in the intranet, as do East and West.

Are these jobs all clerical and dock? Or are there drivers being cut also?

Are they allowing you the opportunity to transfer as they are at FXF East?

Wishing all of you the best, truly I am, sux to be unemployed anytime but just before the holidays is the worst.

FM
No offer to transfer or even go part time. Little money is better than no money working part time. How can they keep the part time jobs and not even offer us that?! Unemployment isn't going to pay me *&^%, plus the fact that I only have three months left on it because I "stuck it out" the last time they were slow. They told me I could apply to any other Fed Ex now. WTF! Why the hell would I do that! It's a slow time for trucking companies, so how am I going to go to a "similar" job right now?! Guess I'll have to try to work two jobs and have no insurance for my kids for 6 months! Great! Thanks FED EX!!!!!!!! Appreciate all you've done for me.....NOT!!!!

FXF doesn't have full time dock employees from what I understand. We used to have a couple but they had to go through the dock to driver program within a year or they were bumped to part time. Maybe they are doing this at national now. They don't want to pay benefits to dock employees

good luck to you an your family this is the wrong time of the year to not have a job.try abf. yellow. holland .roadway.the all have some one looking out for you an your family good luck keep your head up.:1036316054:

Dockgirl;
I am partial to ABF. Yellow and other Union companies,in my opinion, are the way to go. Look around. Go to ABF website and see what they can do for you. They are very through in their application process, and most don't make it. Once you are in, then you are in for the long haul. I have been with them for a while now & I am pleased with my decision. I wish that I had went there a long time ago. I hope things work out for you.

I want to thank all of your for looking out for me a job. I did fill out an online application for ABF. Hopefully it works out. I just wish I'd had clue about this before I went back to work after my three month layoff. I should have went somewhere else in that time but my husband thought I should stick it out because Fed Ex spent money on uniforms and what not and said how great and busy it was going to be after the restructure. They should have just told us the truth. If i'm being asked every other day to work overtime, I asume we have plenty of work for the amount of people. I certainly didn't expect to go to work and come right back home without a job on the 10th. But thank you all for your kindness.

Insurance cancelled same day I got the shaft

Your wife is correct your insurance is prepaid for 30 days.
I was told on October 10th, I had no job and insurance. When I check my Aetna and Caremark, they say I'm cancelled as of October 10th. WTF. My last paycheck on October 11th says I paid for it and so did they. So why is my insurance cancelled before 30 days is up? When I left US Playing Card Co., I kept my insurance until the 1st of the next month. In fact, they are in the process right now of eliminating some positions in November but had enough common courtesy to give those people at least 3 months notice and 6 months to a year of severence pay. And Fed Ex makes how much more a year than that company, and Fed Ex is how much of a bigger company! Now I'm going to get a bill from my son's visit to the doctor on the 18th, and I can't fill his prescriptions at Walgreens because I don't have $76 for one and God knows how much for the other one. I can't believe that Fed Ex is such a big rich company but can't at least give you enough to live for three months and let you keep your insurance until the end of the month. I've got two other children that need to go to the doctor and I don't know what I'm going to do now. I'll be sure and and let as many people as possible know that the Fed Ex super duper reputation is all a lie!:furious: :furious: :furious:

If you were full time you have the option to buy your insurance for up to I think 90 days under COBRA. Call Lakeland H/R and ask about it. ( consolidated omnibus buget reconciliation act) This law was passed in 1986.

You can keep it for 18 months but you have to pay for it. About $600.00 a month I think.

That's all great but considering I no longer have a job, I can't aford COBRA. It's allmost $900 a month for me and just three of my children. I have 4. And yes my husband's job has insurance, for almost the same price as COBRA, which is why I stuck out the crappy shifts, cold weather, and the three month lay off because the money was good and the benefits were cheap. Even if we could afford benefits through my husbands job, they wouldn't let him enroll until January. I'm so discusted with Fedkins I could just throw up from the stress they have now given me. Thank them for me again!

Dockgirl not sure about this but if they have taken ins. benefits out of your pay as thay have the guys here that got let go we beleive they have to cover you for 30 days. Check with the Ins Commish officwe in your state we are checking on it here Good Luck!

National is a division of Freight, it wouldn't make sense to set up new terminals in Canada side by side one saying National and the other saying Freight, also I'm not sure they could if they wanted to with the authority issue.

I don't know what the future holds, but I still don't think they put time and effort, not to mention money into National just to close it down, who knows they may be forced to if things get that bad, anything can happen, even FXF itself could disappear. I'm sure if it's a losing deal that they'll only throw good money after bad for so long till they have to cut and run.

I don't think that is the case presently, they are just trying to cut the loses and bring everything in line with business levels, I would hate to lose my job tomorrow (mainly cause I would have to start again with vacation time) and hate to see anyone else lose theirs.

I agree with not buying new cars, I hate that payment every month and these are the last new ones we will ever buy.

Familyman it is my understanding that fedex national no longer exsists up in canada, the whole operation is under the name of fedex freight, they are on the freights accops system, and their name was changed to fedex freight canada, not fedex freight national of canada, that goes for all operations in canada, the exsisting centers as well as the new centers, all canadian shipments now go through fedex freight terminals in the U.S. In the midwest canadian shipments went through the fedex national center in detroit, not anymore, all canadian shipments go through the fedex freight center in toledo now. To sum this all up, the canadian operations are 100% under the control and management of fedex freight.

I will certainly check with them first thing Monday morning, along with the regional HR so I can get some corporate numbers to call as well. Thank you very much.

I just to talked to Claudia, National HR. She told me evrything is the same as Watkins. If you get terminated, layed off, or quit, your benefits terminate at midnight that day. I thought National was part of Fed Ex, so why are they still using Watkins methods to give you shaft on this. If National is Fed Ex, then they should adhere to Fed Ex regulations and give you your benefits at least until the 1st of the next month since it's prepaid (so I hear) for 30 days. According to Lisa at Aetna, Fed Ex should give me benefits until the 10th of November. But National is acting like they're Watkins. All four of my kids are sick and there is nothing I can do for them except rack up a bill from Childrens Hospital for $400 a kid. I'm going to look the up the Ohio Insurance Commission right now and turn them in. This worked for me with the auto insurance of a man who rearended me a few years ago. I turnde them in to the Insurance Commission and got all the money they originally owed me. Hopefully it will work out the same way here. We should all stick together and call the Insurance Commission of every state Fed Ex is giving the SHAFT to.

Don't really know what you mean by maybe for you.
Do I still have job here (yes) do I plan on going somewhere else (No). I can't imagine haveing kids and comeing into work one day and told I'm out of a job. I guess thats one thing about driving a truck I can go down the street and get another job the next day, but I work with good people and we do our job and for a driver its hard to beat the pay and home time

I'm implying that maybe for yourself or at your terminal you are FedEx,and yes I still work here. But for some of us one day its Watkins rules and one day it might be FedEx rules. There is no set of rules just what mangement wants you to know, and since its still Watkins mangement, you don't know where the ruling comes from. I'm not trying to be negative but I wish it would go one way or the other not both and that seems to be the way it is at the big break bulks.

We had (key word had) a T/M that would hold driver meetings to let us know what was going on, then less then a week later Fedex was makeing him look like he was just out rightley liying to us, but the info he was giving us had to be comeing from someone above him but to end story He B gone he was one of the frist months ago to get hit with your fired call a taxi to come get ya and what ever you have here and don't come back. Hope it won't take another yr to get it right but it could be that long
