STOP B****ING ABOUT HOLLAND, and take aim at the real asses who did it to you Red Star guys! They did to Holland too!!!!
GTA I never said your Almighty Holland shut Red Star down .My B***H was with the Hiring process they put the Red Star drivers thru and I hope they don't do that to the Reddaway guys.I hope Yellow gives them fellas and the Holland people who lose their jobs over this the chance to merge into Yellows system but to be honest I don't see that happening. I've learned a long time ago that once these company moguls get away with something they just get better at it and the bad part is they make the Union look like asses over it weither they had anything to do with it or not. We can argue this all night but it ain't gonna help those who need the help now.

yrc

It was only a matter of time b4 they screwed them guys just like they did to the men from Red Star. It really is a shame to see all of these smaller jobs being bought up and dismantled by the big guys. The only thing that can happen with this is good hard working men and women will be stuck out in the cold looking for another job. Its time for dear old Uncle Sam to get in the pit and get his hands dirty and try to fix what he has destroyed,

how many guys are at that terminal
how about the others as well
are they mid size, small or very large
i'm curious

Metter and Albany are about the same size. I'd say between 25-30 people for each one total. They are only city board terminals now. They moved us road drivers out about 8 years ago. They are small terminals, but also fairly new ones. Both terminals were built about 10 years ago. Mobile and Lumberton are not any bigger. Maybe the same size.

I'm getting damned tired of these old accusations against Holland for the demise of Red Star when anyone with reasonable intelligence knows YRC orchestrated the shut-down and reconciliation package as a prelude to the buyout. I find it odd that when you talk to Dugan drivers hired by Holland they're happy as hell, but the some of the Red Star guys are still wishing for the 70's powerbase the Union once held..... What's past is past guys, get over it and worry about our future.
Most of Reddaway is NON-Union and I imagine given a deal like Dugan's people They will be as happy to join.
The six centers in Holland probably employ less than 25 union brothers each and most (all?) are in the Southern Conference giving them bumping rights under "suitcase seniority". The Change of operations will allow some to be absorbed into terminals who will be expanding service areas to cover sales regions covered by the closed terminals.
If you need to point a finger, point it at YRC's (mis)Managment and what they've done to take a historically very profitable Regional LTL Carrier (Holland) and turn them into a clone of a barely profitable YRC company. All done by a bunch of Corporate Goons who don't give a damn about producing a saleable product, just stock prices.
Yellow has a long history at being successfull by just keeping it's head above water by climbing up on the competition and drowning them in the process.
In other words.... STOP B****ING ABOUT HOLLAND, and take aim at the real asses who did it to you Red Star guys! They did to Holland too!!!!

You talk about Holland as if it is some sort of separate entity, yet you accuse YRC of controlling it. USF Reddaway is Union for the most part, the USF co's as a whole were a struggling bunch with a unprofitable business plan that why they were sold. I hate to see Teamsters lose their jobs but you have to cut the rotting limbs off a tree otherwise sixty thousand people are going to be out of jobs.

The fact is the the shareholder and investors the ones that pull the strings. You think Holland is a "nice company" that they would never do something like this out of the goodness of their hearts? You are the one that is convoluted, anyone with reasonable intelligence can see American business is cruel if it wasn't YRC it would be someone else. I think they gave it a honest try, and it's not Yellow anymore we are all on the same chopping block only as good as our #'s. Saia is one of Yellows former conquests that did not fail.

The real "goons" are the anti union Co's like Con-Way and Old Dominion they are the ones that are dragging us all down. Dismal efforts at organizing in freight have left us on the bottom end of a very competitive heap of consolidated companies. You want to blame someone, blame yourself for not being active in your union, blame members who come for a paycheck but never make a Sunday meeting. Somewhere along the line we stopped fighting and that has led us to this and CF and Nations Way and on and on... Take this misdirected anger and focus it on preserving a union way of life job security will be a end result.

Bad Day In Texas

I Am One Of Those At Reddaway In Texas. It Was No Shock To Us. They Call It Bad Service But We All Know It Was Bad Management.fired Or Ran Off All Sales People In Texas. Dallas Did Not Have One Sales Person. This Could Have Been Such A Great Company. But We Will Survive.

Cavehunter,
Welcome to Truckingboards and best of luck to everybody involved.

get a life

>Gee, I hope everything's going to be okay . . .<
Yeah were doing fine as soon as they got your fat rear out of there. You ever think of trying Nutrisystems? Maybe you could get "back in the game". You just can't ever stop with your ignorant cracks can you?

For me this bring's back sad and anger from the day C.F. closed it doors. The Teamster's have on their web site they will try to help out the displace Teamster's.So good luck as the freight will still be out there and as to be moved.

Which SUNDAY meeting?

>blame members who come for a paycheck but never make a Sunday meeting. <
Thanks -I'm glad you noticed I wasn't there on Sundays. It's been that way for 25 years and it's going to stay that way. As soon as the local changes it to Saturday and not Sunday I'll show up. Don't you tell me when I'm going to Church. I pay my dues and vote and the DRIVE program. Sorry that I put Church and family ahead of the Union. Change it and I'll show up if not -DEAL WITH IT. Funny when my dad was a Steward it was Saturday but now it's Sunday. I'm not Catholic and Church starts at 10:15AM and that's the way IT IS!

They closed the terminal in Duncan, and moved the entire operation into the very large Roadway terminal south of the city. As far as I have heard, it was just a location change and not leaving the area.

This move was about 2 months ago i believe. Havent been down there since but I dont think that it has anything to do with the latest news. Wait, maybe it does. :chairshot:
