FedEx Freight | I am a new hire.

Welcome to the company Carolina Cowboy. I'm sure you'll be happy here. I assume you are going to be a line haul driver from Charlotte, right? I'll probably see you sometime. I'm out of Harrisburg, on the Orlando bid, and I see Charlotte drivers a lot. you will get paid every other week. this is the second week of the pay period. you'll get paid a week from Thursday. if you get direct deposit, when it takes effect, your pay will hit the bank every payday like clockwork. Mine is always there by 9 a.m. Good luck!

With fuel costs on the rise, shppers are looking to source things closer. And in those 3,4,5 day lanes, they're going to shift more and more long-haul LTL freight to truckload.

Just like consumers who take less trips, move closer to work, ride the bus, buy smaller cars, etc.

FedEx National is in alot of trouble. They marketed the product on SERVICE (supposedly 99% on-time) but people are willing to forgoe service for PRICE. Who cares if the stuff gets there a day or two later when you can save 30%?

Long-haul LTL is not a good area to be in right now.

You better believe it.

chains needs to get a new source for his info. Someone is telling him the wron stuff.

Reply to you....

No sure about ANY WHERE ELSE. But in Newark NJ we have freight totally up the:butt kiss: all 28 and 53 are packed. May be what you call "Trouble" is at some where else beside NJ.

I'm so confident. I even changed my Avitar. Heres to putting Jevic in the Past.

that kind of looks like unauthorized use of our corporate logo ..... my guess is you better change it before the FedEx police get wind of it... (bad German accent) "I think vee might have to deal with this kind of failure to comply harshly" :hysterical: :smilie_132:

Welcome to the Famz, Carolina Cowboy. I started running linehaul about the same time as you were hired. It's now almost 2 months later and I'm loving it.

And which new guy are you?

Mike K.

I think you are a couple of weeks newer then me.
I'm not a true new guy. I've been with FXNL/WML since 99. Hostled/ Dock for 7-8 yrs until they finally started the driver training program. Did the P&D/Dock combo for a year. Fedex finally had openings in linehaul and I jumped on it.

Appreciate it. I'm new to here but been driving for 30 years. I tried once to get on at Watkins back in 1992. But a major speeding ticket kept me from getting the job. I wish I had kept trying.

I just started at the Cincinnati location about 2 weeks ago (linehaul, single). It was a shaky start--I was left at home 1 night each week, but I'm being told that was a fluke and that I should have no problem keeping busy. Right now, I am the senior driver on the extra board--because I am the only driver on the extra board.
