Holland | YRC’s Third-Quarter Profit Slips

I am tired right now (trying to read the transcript) or I would provide a link but it is in the 3rd quarter earnings report. Take out the profit from the sales of the property and other stuff they sold from the terminals they shut down and the profit turns into a loss of 30 something cents a share.

Man BP, now he'll think you're the one thats impressive, instead of me. Just because you can read and comprehend what you read. Thanks! :1036316054: :hysterical:

Gurgle, gurgle

Ok over the past few days I have spent a lot of time pouring over financial statements that are a struggle to understand and I have come to the realization that I miss the time when I could just be a good truck driver and not have to worry about all this stuff.
It is probably good for me to learn this stuff but I still don't like it.

Actually, it doesn't make any difference whether you can understand the financial reports or not, if you can, more power to you, but it's all double speak and a bunch OR pile of BS formulated to confuse the rank and file. The important thing is that bottom line, it does not lie, and the way I see it we better learn to swim real quick or get life preservers when we go down the provervial TUBES:hide: My opinion.

I have not been able to check the boards lately so please forgive my late responses:

To Benny:
First of all, I sense a hint of anger/sarcasm in your question to me. I am in no way trying to rattle anyone's cage with my comments. I was making what I believe was a factual observation. Nothing more, nothing less. The original comment was the YRC's Regional Business had op income of $1.7 million and I said it was a result of asset sales. Here is how I get there (from the press release on Oct 23rd):

YRC Regional Op Income - $1,655 (this is $1.7 million so I agree on this point)
YRC Regional Gain on Asset Sales - $3,850

So if you take out the gain from property sales, op income was a negative $2.2 million.

This was the only point I was making. No need to get angry about this. Me working at YRC or not would not change this calculation. I appreciate the work you do in moderating these boards and would only ask that my opinion, which is always presented in a respectful way, be allowed to be expressed along with the others

To Grizz:
I am not trying to be super secretive, but my job title technically requires me to be at least a tad vague. I work in trucking for sure and am non-union, although not anti-union.

Peace everyone

You don't work for YRC, you know who you work for and lets just leave it at that. When you are referring to "expressed along with others", are you talking about we members that are concerned for our YRC owned companies or are you talking about yourself and the other members posting from your company to attempt to rattle our cages? I have no problem with anybody posting on the Holland forum, as long as they follow the rules. I don't think that Earl would probably like what you and your co-workers are doing with your time while on his time, do you?

As far as me being angry or sarcastic, I guess you're just feeling guilty? Thank you for your facts to support your first post, thats all I asked for. BP had stated the same thing, as far as your facts go, already. As with any business, the numbers support what ever the business wants them to support, nothing more or nothing less.

As far as my job as Moderator, thank you for your compliments. I try very hard to maintain order by making sure Jeff's rules are followed by everyone. Sometimes I wish I could overlook certain issues but I can't, that would be breaking the rules. I didn't edit or delete your post, that I'm aware of, did I? As long as you are factual, respectful and don't do any Union bashing, you will be welcome here. As always, I and others will be watching for your insightful posts.

BH,
No worries here. I will stay in line for sure and not be a problem

For the record, I have many friends and family tied to the success of YRC as a whole, hence my interest in the company and its well-being.

Secondly, I do not know of the Earl you are referring to (Duke of Earl?). I think you may have my employer mixed up. I can assure you my professional integrity is not being compromised by my postings on this site.

Good luck to all as we are all on edge given the nature of the business right now.
