FedEx Freight | Red Shirts lay offs

Supposedly another round wll be coming in December. What was also not disclosed was the fact that FXNL closed two more sub stations. FTM & MDE are no more.

anybody else see the merger coming? why have freight and national terminals in the same cities when you can run both out of one terminal? especially with volumes the way they are now and will likely continue to be.

They will kick National to the curb. Then they will look over any equipment or property they might find usefull for FXF or Express. Then they will tell all of the unemployed National people that they can all go to the nearest FXF terminal and APPLY for any openings. Starting over at the bottom of course, just like a new hire, if they want to get hired on. The termination of Nationals operations will just be a change of the business model in the local papers.

actually this is what is being talked about around the country apparently. it has been said that any terminal in the fxnl system doing 100 bills or less..closed and moved to the nearest fxf dock. still seperate. but on same dock. supposedly to happen like jan 12 09... we will see...

at my terminal they are rearranging the dock to make mainline bigger. The only reason for that would be their expecting more longhaul freight, time will tell.

Fedex still keeps Federal Express and FedEx ground separate and they are simliar operations. There is reasonable cause they could merge the 2 companies, but there is also reasonable cause they could remain as 2 companies. The magic 8 ball says to ask again later.

I think it will all be done out of FXF and they will use the FXFN trailers for the same freight they do now, just to say it is separate, but no one will actually be employed by National. Drivers will work the dock and all dock employees will be part time. What a concept! Just my thought on the subject.:nutkick:

We all could use a lot more LTL freight out there on the street. I don't see that happening anytime soon in this economy. :cuss:
