Yellow | Yrcw seeks economic relief from teamsters!

Why don't we just mail them back copies of all the fancy claims about how they bought this and that and were in just wonderful financial shape. NO GIVEBACKS. Give me common stock equal to that held by shareholders and management instead!!!

I'd Think I'd want some kind of preferred stock if possible! Those guys get to the trough first! Common stock will be good for wiping ones behind!!!

Lets not forget should they get the give back they want, they will thank 25% plus of us by permenantly laying us off in the big merger.

So would you rather be shot or hung......

I vote no to any giveback unless Y.R.C. is ready to sell off the China doll, allow Glen Moore to become N.M.F.A. teamsters and make the same money, benny's that we do. I have a problem with giving money back to a company that is spending money on building up a non union division (Glen Moore) and spending money in China. Y.R.C. made money off of the sweat of teamsters and spent it were they did, Now they want us to give back? I SAY NO!!! We already gave enough when we voted in this past 5 year deal.

Yet another lie from an uninformed poster. They are not laying off 25% of the workforce

Thanks for letting your ignorance show not by disagreeing with me but calling me names with no facts to offer. Though none of the mergers in this area have been formally handed down from the COO committee, the information posted by the company showed that merged facilities would have a COMBINED P&D and dock operations. The general consensus was that would lead to a 25% layoff. These numbers are just conjecture but I never implied that they weren't.

Your crappy senority date is showing with your touchyness.

I thaught this kind of personal attack was uncalled for.

We wish here at 671 25 % layoff was the limit if it was we could get about 25 % back to work.

give back

You seem to have the best info on what is happening, couple questions 1 do you think it will be a vote like our contract where the majority will pass it and everyone else that votes no will have to go along the last give back I was involved in people that voted no worked at scale but there was a certain percent that had to be met before it passed and 2 if they don't get the give back is it possible for YRC to file chapter 11 and then be able to get rid of our existing contract's and start fresh,we could not only lose wages in this but vacation time sick days and a lot of other things we have fought for over the years.
I have been thru a give back deal and we lasted a year then closed anyway so I would really have to figure all sides of this before I made any decision.

During the conference call today, it WAS stated that the IBT would not entertain any concession unless it was approved by the membership AND matched by management. Action must be quick if we decide to take it, which is why the meeting in Washington is happening tonight. Once they find out what is needed and what is possible, it will be brought to a 2 man committee from all the freight locals now set up for Next Wed. Dec. 3rd in Scottsdale, AZ. If approved by the 2 man committee, it will be brought to the freight membership for a vote, as I understand it. No details are available yet except they are looking at money (mileage & hourly cuts). That being said and given the history of the old 15% give-back language, which by the way was removed from the contract because no carrier ever survived it. However there was a lot of people that got extra time out of it and made it to retirement because of it, so it wasn't all bad. Now that leaves us with a choice of somewhere between a possibility of a chance to slight to no chance. Ahhhh, democracy. :smilie_132:

well since we are giving options. how about scraping the pension plan all together. I would rather have a portion of that money to invest as I see fit. While there at it how about scraping the health care in case you havent noticed it sucks also. The management side gets a better deal on healthcare because they have a cafeteria plan. We should not all be lumped together under one choice, my needs are most likely diffrent from a new hire with no kids and also diffrent from Mr. Ready to Retire needs with no kids at home. This would be a huge savings for the company. Probably a better option for us also. After all thats what these layoffs are all aboult benefits. I would rather have a job where I pay for benefits as opposed to No JOB at all

William D. Zollars f... With a total compensation package of $5,000,000.00 per year, he could afford to take a 50% paycut and put drivers back to work."

You seem to imply that Zollars reducing his pay equals more freight on trucks. You can reduce all the wages you want, union or not, but if that doesn't equal freight on the trucks, the layoffs continue. Only when business levels increase do you get jobs back.

That was one of the failures of past give-backs... Company turned around and increased discounts to try to buy back shippers business.

Here the difference I see is YRC is specifically trying to reduce debt with the proceeds, not give it away in higher discounts for non-paying freight.

But that could just be the flip-side of the same bad penny, I don't know.

Sorry to took so long to respond guys.

As some of you know, I broke my left ankle 3 weeks ago and was barely getting around...2 days ago my right knee cap blew out from all the stress....so now I can't walk and have to use a wheelchair for awhile.

I can only get to the PC when my wife is there to help me into the wheelchair, and then I head straight for Truckingboards as I did last night with this YRCW post.

YRCW is meeting with the IBT as we speak and a "two man" meeting will be held in Scottsdale, AZ on 12/3/2008 from 10 am until 2pm.

Hoffa has told YRCW that our benefits are off the table....just hourly and milege wages will be dicussed.

If an agreement is done by then....the MEMBERS will be voting to ratifiy it over the next few days.

So I would advise you to get your butts to your local Union Hall and find out the facts....some of you may have to call to get directions seeing how you never go in the first place, but they will be glad to tell you how to get there!....Don't laugh, you know it happens!.....KK

So how much do you pay for your crappy insurance? Mgmt has a fairly hefty out-of-check deduction for insurance.

I understand we dont pay up front for insurance however the co pays and out of pocket is getting larger. The copays are diffrent on the management side depending on what coverage you choose. Most people situations change over the years with kids and sickness and a whole range of illness. Since you would get to switch your coverage every year you could change what fits your familys needs. diffrent cost for diffrent coverage. It truly is a better option.

NO GIVE BACKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I sure hope this goes to a rank and file vote, though we all know that deals are settled behind closed doors ALWAYS....we start giving concessions now, we are truly done for.....58,000 on board, and lifeboats for 20....:TR10driving03:

Several weeks before the CF shutdown they came to us and asked for givebacks. This is my thought "Would you rather have 80% of something or 100% of nothing?".

Yeah and at WestWay we gave back - and they shut down all the same with management taking 20% of the last 5 months wages home with them.

(a going away gift from the boys to the head gimps)

Does UPS start out at 85% of scale or 70%? Even at 70% it's close to 20 bucks an hour. I think I would look good in brown seeing the country at 55 MPH. I hate to think whats down the road for Yellow. Most trucking stocks were up over $2 per share today, we were up .13 cents. I could ride this puppy to the ground but jumping off looks pretty good.

Good luck going to UPS Freight. have friends there they are laying off too its slow.

What really ticks me off is they have been buying up companies left and right, They just closed a deal on the company in China. Now they want me to take consessions. Im hearing 15% pay cut. Thats 10-12K per year. Work for same as a non-union company. I think they should have to liquidadate some of the other companies.. Something this stinks!
