O.k. If you have full time dock workers in your barn then displaced road or city can slide in those spots right?
Now, what happens to the road driver classification? He will now be at the bottom of the city board, so he will be classified as a city driver and bid with the city, correct? Or will he be classified as something different.

Alright then what happens to the city driver that gets laid off? The city driver can also bump back to a full time dock job. What is his classification? He can't be a city driver he got displaced, so will he be classified as full time dock? Will he still be considered a driver with the company?
Will he go to full time dock pay?

If you have full time dock worker who has a cdl. Can he be bumped out of a job by a qualified road or city driver?

Too much confusion!! Does anyone know if there is writing in a book somewhere on layoff's or is mgmt. making this up as they go?

i dont think a city driver will be able to go to full time dock, they want to get rid of them all i think sooner or later.cheeper to have part-timers. but if they let him-and he did he would have to give up his driver number and go to dock pay i would think..but he would go into the cross hairs for the next round of layoffs/be shown the door.that is if there is anymore. which i think most of us feel like there is.have some good friends in cincy and indy that got it this time...

company hire date

may be they should go by a company hire date for things like this

Well they do. They go by company seniority within each board. A road driver can't bump a city driver. However a road driver and a city driver can both bump down a full time dock worker. I am curious about there job classification and if the people involved will in the future be on chopping block.

What happens if a city driver was a part time dock worker for 2 or 3 years and then went through the driver program and becomes a driver? Does he have more seniority than city drivers that were hired while he was a part timer or does his seniority date start when he became a driver?

His seniority starts when he becomes a driver. We have a couple of drivers at our yard that did this.:1036316054:

Same thing at our barn we have a driver that had 2 or 3 years part time then became a city driver his pt service didn't count toward his seniority.

You guys need to go union. Just think you can be like us and have basically the same work rules and pay dues to.:biglaugh:

workforce staffing

its all right there on the fxfe intrAnet under workforce staffing on how they do things for a layoff basically a cdl qualified fxf driver has presidence over full time dock

Beware!

That's why it sucks when a full time dock employee successfully completes the whole DDC and then is denied a city position/driver pay.

It is happening right now. Trust me ya'll.

Can you please call my SCM and let him know this information. I had 3 part timers who just got their CDL and they just became full timers in September bump me from my job.

Thanks!

The way it was explained to me was that if they get rid of a road position then the lowest road driver would go back to the city, then the lowest city driver would go back to the dock and then the lowest person in senority would get laid off. Doesn't matter if you have a CDL or not goes by company senority once you're a dock worker.

Might want to check your facts... I don't think this is correct :nono:

Don't think you can "bump" into another class. You can transfer if there is an opening.

The purple lie/people first lol!!

That was if there was a lay-off.

And now that there has been a huge lay offs the scrambling has begun!
All full time dock workers without cdl's have to be worried right now.
It's so bad at my barn that ddc students who successfully completed the course were denied their driver pay/positions.:furious:

Now if these guys quit do they still have to pay back the $6000
for the cost of the course?? hmmm....
Discuss.....

one board by hire date, bid city,city/dock combo or road by hire date since no more fulltime dock i think they call city guys citydock combo, well either all combined=no confussion,,last hired first layedoff/fired!!

Non CDL layoffs

Like other service centers we have laid off all non cdl hostler and dock. Now we are re-bidding, after only 3 weeks from the last bid, to replace these hostlers and dock workers with people that have less seniority. They are re-naming the bids to fit their needs. The hostler bids are now called, City Driver Hostler. The dock bids are now called, City Driver Dock. There are several of these bids. So they have replaced senior employees with less senior employees. These non cdl positions still exist. These people should have been allowed to hold these positions by seniority as long as they exist.
Not a lawyer for sure, but I think they need to go to the labor board.
