Yellow | Hello......I am Back!

YES, since you brought it up

I do agree with the above statements fully! Now, for my point of view.....
Most Local officials feel that they are beyond getting information from otside sources and also from giving info through these sites. This type of forum takes away their "power trips" of speaking to the few same members that come and stroke their overinflated ego's at the monthly meetings. They also feel no loyalty to other members that are not theirs. It is sad that one Local won't help another's members but that is the case at least here. Just my point of view. I do agree with the above statements fully!
Go to International Brotherhood of Teamsters (IBT). You would think you would be able to post comments and get answers...No, you have to write...very accessable (not). You can go to Teamsters for a Democratic Union (right now and post and get answers without writting a letter. Teamsters for a Democratic Union

I just want to thank KK for being LOYAL to the MEMBERSHIP!! I just wish there were more out there like him that only posted the facts & not pretend they know something when they don't. Thanx TB!

I don't think that it is so much a loyalty issue. I think that because each local has different rules, it wouldn't be wise for the BA's to be answering questions about a different local. That would just cause inaccuracies.

I don't blame any of the BAs, if they didn't want to converse on here. We all know that some people will say things via the computer, that they would never say to someones face.

I also think that us employees, knowing who our own BAs are, is a good thing. They are human, just like the rest of us. Go to meetings, engage in conversations with them. Listen and learn.:1036316054:
I know this to be a fact, at least in our local here. This has been told to me personally "why would I want to help them, they don't pay dues here". A union brother should always help another union member, no excuse. As for blaming the BA's, not all are lumped together but there are many that are selfish and useless. As for going to the meetings, I attend them all, no excuses here, and have for 20 years.

The only thing that I could get out of my B.A. was , everyone ( laid off or not ) will be considered active for this C.O.O. . And it doesn't matter when you were laid off . The company wanted an active date of 12-18-08 ( I think ) but didn't get it . Good Luck !!

Back when Maury Myers took over, he said we were going to operate from the bottom up. I don't know if it was all a smoke screen, but the perception was much better. Then that Welch dude took over with his ten thousand years of experience doing things the old fashioned Yellow way. Things went straight back in the sh**ter and have stayed there.

Myers may have righted the company, but one thing he didn't do was maintain the fleet in my opinion!
Cut back on routine maintenence like oil changes for example.

Done by time span like every 3 months for example. Problem was some of the city units were doing 200 miles a day and others were doing 60miles per day. Do the math and I think you'll find out why all the brigs and fords died an early death.

Ask the mechs at Waste Management If the same thing happened there when Myers got there.

I can't argue with you here, because I don't know about this specific aspect. But I do know this. They got more damned use out of those freakin' Brigs than anybody should have ever expected. Holy cow, I was still driving one of those beaters when it was over 20 years old. They had to quit using them because they wouldn't pass emissions test anymore, and they couldn't find parts for them. Died an early death? God almighty they were museum pieces.

You must have gotten one of the 60 mpd ones because the other ones were getting blacked out with paint over the logo every week it seemed.

I had one for 10 years or so,I tried to keep it the best I could.Once it was gone,it was just a different hoj brig.

They had over forty of those things in Denver up until three years ago. And they only got rid of all of them less than two years ago.

We've been told that if our "follow the work" doesn't fill we will forfeit rights to bid in the pool. - disgusted

Why do I think that makes sense? If you don't follow the work, why should you be allowed to possibly bump someone who is in the pool who had no work to follow?

if that was true then there would be no where to bid to in the master pool.......once you move across town from roadway to yellow or vice-versa then you can not go into the master pool.......hang where you are then on the second day which will be the pool bids.............bid out of state or where-ever.........:duh:

The short answer would be seniority. I do understand the argument but they're the ones that say what work we follow. Originally we had no work to follow which would've allowed 74 of our drivers transfer opportunities. Then we "won" the right to follow our work to Rochester in the amount of nine guys. So now your forced to go there. If it doesn't fill in our case 64 drivers lose the right to go anywhere else. The follow your work should be an opportunity not an obligation. Any jobs not filled in the follow your work portion could be left open for bid in the pool. It's real simple. I know it won't go down this way but it should have.

I understand better now, and I agree that is not right.

Not really, there are places that are gaining more than losing so there would be places for the pool.

Agreed
hang where you are then on the second day which will be the pool bids.............bid out of state or where-ever.........:duh:
Right but only if all your "follow the work" filled

I think we agree. The left over follow the work stuff should be in the pool. You should be able to pass to the pool if you'd rather take your chances on going somewhere else. They're saying you can but we're being told that if our "follow the work" doesn't completely fill we're SOL when it comes to the pool. Anyway, this is the info we were given. Maybe it isn't acurate.

Posted on our union board..........

2) Following the work to Rochester by the Buffalo Road Drivers will take place next. It is my understanding that if those positions do not fill totally fill, the bidding will be closed to Buffalo in the Pool bid. This is because everyone had an opportunity to follow their work. If all 9 bids to Rochester fill, then 64 drivers from Buffalo Road will have an opportunity to participate in the pool bid. This bid is tentatively scheduled to take place on February 14th 2009. The time and place will be forthcoming.

Article 8, Sec 6 (1) a.

requires that employees "at the closed or partially closed terminal(s) shall have the right to bid into a master seniority roster (road or city) comprised of bidders from the active seniority rosters of the closed or partially closed terminal(s) in order of their continuous classification (road or city) seniority."

Article 5, Sec 2 (b) Mergers of Companies-General

This article requires that Article 8, Sec 6 be the tool that accomplishes the merger, as you can see the only means mentioned in this article is "MASTER POOL BIDDING" not an incestuous mix of merging local boards first and then "MASTER POOL BIDDING.

Well put, it would be nice if they just did it right for a change.

In the last C.O.O. , you were able to pass your first option and take a chance in the general pool without losing your senority . But like they say , a bird in the hand is better than 2 in the bush . If you wait you may end up with a worse choice , if any at all . As for the contract , the C.O.O. committee may use it as their guide , but I don't think they always walk the straight and narrow ( follow it strictly ) . God Bless !!!
