ABF | Future Purchase

was told that abf will not buy any other carriers, will expand from within, too much baggage comes with it!you can call us anything you want but just remember abf is financially sound and well run.

ABF knows when you buy another company you only get the tractors yards and barns customers haul with who they want to haul with just because you buy a company dose not mean you buy the customers!
when i started here i asked if we were going to expand or buy someone the answer is if we want to expand we will buy more trucks and hire more drivers nuf said.
:duh:

Holland was purchaced for either 1.5 billion or 1.7 billion. Obviously, our (Holland) value is much lower now.

All of USF was purchesed for 1.37 billion Holland,Dugan ,Logistics,Distrobution ,Glenn Moore ,Bestway,Redaway. I was a little bitter about losing a $90,000 monday through friday job.

Buying USF is what put YRC in trouble.Over paid for company that was already in debt. But mister Zollars who was on a power trip saw things differently and now it's coming back to haunt him.The mans got to go!!

I have a small project for you ABF guys.
Next Saturday, drive your trucks to your corporate office for a big rally. The reason for the rally is simple. To beg (on our behalf at Holland) ABF to purchase USF HOLLAND only. We will be your regional carrier, and a dang good one. Of course, they do not need to bring any of our top brass from Holland, over to ABF. Without our top brass, it would be just a little bit more work for your top brass to collect our numbers. After what we have been through here lately, we would be so happy to be out from under YRC that the operations would just about run by themselves. (with our full support)
Please plan out this rally A.S.A.P. We are running out of fingers to plug all of the holes that YRC keeps shooting into the bow of our ship.

When you are at the podium, during the rally......Just mention that Northern Flash sent ya.:biglaugh:

I do have to admit that sometimes I think that I need a 12 pack (avatar) more than this job though.:biglaugh:

What just happened to 12 pack's avatar?????
How rude!

explain to me why these companies need one company to haul long freight and one to haul regional freight. sounds like two of everything to do what some companies are doing with one set of everything(terminals, management, trucks, trailers, shop, etc.

Ok without getting too elaborate because i'm tired, Holland is a Regional carrier in the midwest, but we have a shipper that wants his freight in California for instance. Who gets it there? UHHHH? The company that hauls the "long haul" freight perhaps?:duh:

you still did't answer why it takes you 2 or 3 companys to do what some of us do with one. seems to be an inefficient way of moving freight with all you company trucks going to the same shipper to pick up freight. i realize that this merger of your companies is trying to help this problem, but it has taken awhile to get this done.

Ok tell us the whole story, what is your company, and I'll bet you have a truckload longhaul company some where in its system. Then I'll give you my take on laong haul, short haul. I'm out.

at the terminal i work out of we load local, regional, and longhaul freight off the same dock, our trucks run either meet and turns, laydowns, or team trucks for the long trips that a relay system doesn't work for. people seem to be getting a little edgy. there are some things i do not know so i thought it would ask. i feel like i'm in a conversation with my wife.

First of all wifes are usually smarter then thier husbands.....and it shows. But, Your question is vague, and you didn't answer mine, but here goes.
You break the U.S. up into quarters,Regional. They cover those areas with good transit times and minimial handling.
Long haul, usually gets teams, and there is less handling and more drive time involved. Hence truckload cheaper rates and some carrierers can throw some LTL freight on the tail to push it through. The other option is to run it on the rail, but the down side to that is you lose control of the transit time when you surrender it to the rail system.:USA:
I hope this helps explain something,if it does, your welcome......if not ask your wife. :wink1:!!!!!!
I'm out

again, you have 3 trucks pickup your freight and take it back to your 3 terminals and each ships it on 3 different trucks. my 1 truck can pick up all the shipments and take back to 1 terminal. which company does it more efficiently?
