Yellow | How Did The IBT Agree To This...

The company called several meetings today with the rank and file and explained the transfer of work/bidding procedure.

If a worker signs up to participate in the local transfer of work bidding, he/she must accept a position when the bidding gets to him/her. He/she cannot exercise the option to pass on a location or locations and choose to maintain his/her seniority position at their current terminal. Failure to accept a postion will place him/her at the bottom of the seniority list at his present domicile and into a lay-off.

The company also stated this will be the same process applied in the national master pool bid.

For Example: The number 1 senior man wants to participate in the national bid for a couple of gaining locations he would like to go to. Those locations are filled before the bid gets to him, he no longer has the option of passing on all remaining locations, he must accept a postion somewhere or remain at his present terminal at the bottom of the seniority list.

Unfortunately there was no one from our Local at these meetings to verify this is, indeed, the procedure, nor was anyone from the hall available by phone.

Has anyone else had these meetings at their terminals?

If this is accurate, how did the IBT agree to this.

Heard the TM trying to talk to me about this tonight. I told him I just worked a fulldays work and we need to have a sit down in the morning with the rank & file. Heard him rambling about what he was told and I told him I'll my contract with me tomorrow in hand.

I'll let you know tomorrow metal head what transpires.

Ok, this is the way i see it, when it's time for you to bid, ( YOU ARE IN THE POOL) you have 30 yrs. & you want to go to Flaorida, NO positions open @ Fla. You must take another bid OR GO TO THE BOTTOM!!! SO IF YOU DON'T WANT TO CHANCE IT, stay where you are. IS THAT THE WAY YOU SEE IT?

Yes brother that is exactly what I got out of it and I got a real problem with that. A 30 year man should have the opportunity to participate in the process and chose whether he wants to go to a particular location or not without the threat of being forced to go somewhere he doesn't want to or lose all his seniority

New Language in the NMFA Article 8, Sec 6 "In the event of a merger and multi-region change, The company will be allowed to herd you like sheep to wherever they think you should go and the TNFINC and the change of operations committee will agree to it"

we are screwed now! WOW!!!! The UNION GAVE BACK MORE THAN 10%, this sucks .....if both sides agreed to do that....

We had our meeting with TM and this was not even mentioned. We didnt even discuss 2nd part of bidding. They are trying to ram this through with hardly any info about anything. Our local bid is already up with clock ticking and union has not gave us any info on bidding procedures for either local or master bids, better watch close the hand is quicker than the eye.:Flame-On:

The local, or crossover, bidding decision was handed down last Friday.

If this is accurate, how did the IBT agree to this.

The simple answer to save your seniority at your current terminal and participate in the bidding is to make your home domicile your last choice . That way if you can't hold a bid at a location that you want to go to , then you bid back to ( or just stay at ) your current terminal . If , for example , the only place you want to go to is Harrisonburg , Pa. , that is your first choice , home domicile second . This may only work for the follow your work portion of the change though . Check with your local reps. to see what they think . And I agree that this is a terrible decision by the committee . Between this C.O.O. , the last C.O.O. , and the contract maybe it's time for a change in I.B.T. management . I know that with the economy and yellows spending spree ( which the same people are still making decisions ) the I.B.T.'s negogiators have a hard road to hoe , but where are the protections ? Good Luck !

I'm sorry st44, I dont understand your point.
If you're in an area where 2 or more terminals lists are going to be merged and one is gaining work from the other it's called the crossover bid.....example.....Yellow and Roadway both currently have a break terminal in St. Louis......after the COO/Merger only the Yellow barn will be a break and the Roadway barn will be a city operation. On the road side, some work that is currently being done by Roadway road drivers will soon be done out of the Yellow facility....thus creating a "crossover", or local follow the work bid.......the decision on how to bid this type of follow the work was blast faxed to all the affected Locals last Friday. The rest of the decision will be out very shortly. I don't think people are going to like it but it will be out soon.

If this is accurate, how did the IBT agree to this.
Simple. The IBT leadership are all Ps.O.S!!!! That keep getting fatter and fatter off the Company Bribes.
Yet, the sheep keep voting for them. Won't have to worry about voting for them next time though, 'cuz the Brotherhood won't be no more.

I believe its time for the IBT to step in and put a hault to the crappola until they iron all the bugs out and are able to get all the correct info to all parties involved.
What every1 including the IBT has totally forgot about is that we brothers and sisters are having a tough time with this economy too .
We need to be better informed and not with just hear say.
we all know the company wants this done now but its time to put the brakes on and get this all straighten out 1st instead of just ramming it to us all

But surely that other cr** ain't right, I mean the part that if you sign up for the master pool and decide to stay where your at you lose your seniority. :nutkick:
