Road drivers beware check your dispatch. Wrong dollys= 3 days off. Wrong trailers pulled= 3 days of unless you are the top drivers then NOTHING. What BS that is. Get hurt you are going to be on the chopping block. We need to start taking all the time that they give us to make the run. Don't do the company any favors they aren't going to do it for us. Look at all the purchase trailers, DO YOU THINK THEY CARE ABOUT US? Come on we are a dying here. So I say screw them. I take my whole 30 mins to hook and to drop and follow all the rules they have set up for us. Screw their gate. One minute past my cut is one min late out the gate. What do I have to look forward to no more bonus checks. No raises this year.
When they remember that we are a trucking company and that WE are the reason that they are in business not USXPRESS I hope it isn't too late.

You should count your blessings you still have a job mate.
Cheers!

Looks like another road position may just open up with that attitude. If it's such a bother, you should just quit and let someone else do the heavy lifting. Sucks that YOU are the one being picked on isn't it. This checking equipment and getting days off is nothing new. It's what you are SUPPOSED to do so I don't see a burden. I know of top slot road guys who have set home for days because they think they have it all under control.

I can't believe so many people think the company OWES them something. Just come in, do what is EXPECTED of you and go home at the end of your shift, all in a safe and productive manner. THAT IS IT!!! You are spoiled. Were you here when there were no such bonuses? How did you ever survive then. Oh wait....You did, You're still here. They didn't take it all away. They put the steak back on the shelf and passed out hamburger till this is over. You just may get a better steak if you can just hang on and shut up.

It's no longer the company that is hurting, it's no longer just the country is hurting....It's the whole GLOBAL economy that is in trouble. The fact you and I and all here are involved is reality. FedEx should stop in their tracks just to comfort YOU? If there is no freight, where are they going to get it from just to comfort you? Purchase trailers are saving money so you can have your job a bit longer than you probably would have if they just GAVE you the freight. We've had purchase trailers for years and no one got laid off prior to a complete economic collapse. It is YOU and your thinking that is tanking this company, not the P.Trailers.

If you want to play trucks the way you say, Quit, buy your own, hire drivers and have at it. How long are you gonna last. Not as long as you would with what you have now.

"Honey!, I got laid off because I didn't want to do the work that was expected of me, that company sucks". That would make for some great dinner chat.

There are good drivers sitting at home that would push you out of that truck and do the job without making a sound. I know you are venting just like I am and like so many else are. Just use you thoughts before cutting your own throat.

BOOFRICKINHOO! Get out of the sand box, turn down the cb, put on the financial channels and figure out what you can do for YOURSELF while the world is folding up around you. Take that energy and put it to good use instead of inciting riots.

I'm done...be safe.

I thought the policy was first time one day off second time (in a yr) termination

Wow! Hard to believe ol' hammerdown would have that kind of a gripe in an environment such as this. Does he not realize how fortunate he is to be employed? I'm sorry but this guy strikes me as a complete buffoon!

some people unfortunately thinks FEDEX owes them something.
We trade labor for pay, No labor = No pay

Yea that's a great attitude hammerdown66 , slow down now
hurt the numbers some more and when we get a pay cut you
can really be bitter. I say everyone needs to do our best to
keep things afloat and we can get our Brothers working again.

work smart and work safe.
There is no law that says you are required to hate where you work.

3 days a week at 20 bucks + an hour is better than 3 days a week at 8 dollars an hour.

.

I realize that the "just be thankful you have a job" is more than just corporate jingoism in the economy we're in. I also notice that lots of those trumpeting the slogan are all pretty new here.

That makes me believe that we have some new red shirts here! Welcome!

Yeah, we're lucky to have a job. No denying that. And, all the eggs are in the corporate basket now. It won't be that way forever, and I don't see anything wrong with calling them on their BS when it's warranted.

What gets me is that while they strangle the very workers that bring in the cash, (and yes, I'm including the management folks who have had to take a pay cut...), I'm still seeing slick propaganda from corporate and I haven't heard of one lay off of the corporate elite that run this company. (Not counting the San Jose people who lost their jobs)

Why, just last week, we had the God of the NW flying around to centers for who knows what. So, we still have money to jet execs around when a conference call or web meeting would have done the same thing. Still spewing money in travel when there are other means available.

Still flushing money down the NASCAR toilet. Still flushing money down stadium naming rights and tournaments.

Does the company owe me anything? That's open for debate. I think they do. Just like I owe them something.

Until things turn around, you can expect most of the pain to be felt by the people around you, not the ones on the hill. Sure, they took a pay cut, but others are losing their jobs.

I know things are tough all over, but I can't help but wonder if things are a little worse after being crunched by corporations who see a huge advantage of getting rid of people and piling the work onto those left for the same, or reduced pay.

Personally, I wouldn't put it past FedEx to do that.

Amen to all the good replies this other cat needs to hit the road. We wonder why moral is bad their is your answer. Like grandma always said one bad apple will ruin the whole tree. Eveyone keep your head up it wiil get better relax its fedex

Maybe instead of just getting rid of someone, has anyone thought of talking to him/her to find out why they feel this way? Or is that the new corporate mantra? You don't like it, F#(k you, get the f^&k out of here! Just plug in someone else? You're telling me that corporate's way is the only way? Why would you want to limit yourself to a narrow set of responses? Why wouldn't you want to find out things? Maybe the guy has a legitimate concern. Maybe he's just a hot head who will never be happy. But what if he has something to contribute? You want to perhaps miss out on a solution because you have corproate blinders on?

Until corporate America finally sees the value in the people that do the work, things will not get better.

And cowering won't help anything.

Maybe he had a bad day. He's fairly new and it is only his 4th post. I agree with Franklin. Don't throw him under the bus already.

when i used to be a road driver if you pulled wrong pup it was a problem. dolly just go have them change it on dispatch.taking all your time to drop and hook as well as drive time thats up to you they made the rules. now that im a city guy it should be why the tm plays favorites. i guess it allways something stress stress stress

Hammerdown you have some good points, Don't let the fedex bxstxrds get ya down. Our ccm in DSM takes care of the top percent drivers drivers. Example: #6 on the board out of 50 road drivers rear ended a car in Kansas City on a Tuesday during a mild snow storm on 3 lane interstate (i was there) the driver of the car was sent to the hospital driver of truck went to motel, driver went to hospital to take blood test on wednesday afternoon, driver involved in wreck cushioned back to DSM with other driver on Thursday. I heard that he had a meeting with ccm on Friday and for a fact he was back to work Monday morning been working every single day since. You f**king tell me what up. Driver was on some sort of probation for proping fuel handle open with pop bottle 2 months earlier, he was wrote up 2 times before for talking on cell phone. And finally the driver was issued a heavy tickit for wreck. So be cool hammer.

Hammerdown speaks the truth, I seen a lot of people written up for petty things. This has really increased as of late.
