i am so proud to be affiliated with my overtime hogging shop stewart and his group of ot hogfriends. while the tm keeps adding to the layoff list to save on health and welfare payments, the ot is going thru the roof. thanks to the weakest solidarity among my fellow teamsters and spineless union representation, me along with approx. 8 others out of 30, are slowly but surely headed for the welfare lines. i realize that the economy sucks but a group of my hogging members are probably still shopping for new rolls royces. i guesss the rest of us arent worthy:bowdown:

O.T. in 004-LIT too !

Hello, ecko and I hate to hear that you are laid off. We at 004-LIT are going through the same thing. We have 27 laid off on the dock and O.T. 3-4 days a week. Most of the guys that is doing the O.T. @ 004 are high seniority guys. Because, they know that they are not going to be laid off. Yes, I agree that our UNION, needs to do something about this. One guy just got laid off, and he NEVER turned down O.T. last year, he made over $60k. WE ARE NOT UNITED at all !!! It seems like every man is out for themselves and I really hate that.

We have 5 office people and 5 drivers out of the usual 8 drivers,1 to 1, no outbound guy, the drivers stick around till 9 or 10pm to load the outbound,do the cubes and p/d the u-packs. All 5 drivers get 55 to 62 hrs a week. 5 on lay-off. And get the kicker...............The abusive overtime clause in this last contract, the 25% plus, add a guy the following week. Our BA's run and hide, they don't know the ruling(it's simple math) They agree its abusive, but........drum roll....."IT IS WHAT IT IS"
My blood pressure is going up. I'm out

We (at Holland) have a grievance sitting at the J.A.C. about the 25% rule. At least that is what we are being told. We have not been successful yet either at getting it enforced. I personally think that the 25% overtime language was just put into the contract as "bait" for more yes votes. (that language made people think that they would get their jobs back and get more people below them on the seniority list) The grievance for the 25% rule was filed back about May of 2008. Good luck.:Zzzz:

We're living the same lie Mr. Northern Flash. My next bait and switch question was..........what about all greviences be solved in ten days............WRONG AGAIN. I was directly told....not this one. I then just laughed. I'm making myself sick. I'm out

Yep! I can't help noticing that that 1 inch thick book is just about useless nowadays. We have grievances that take more than six months to get resolved sometimes. Just one delay after another.

our tm wont let the one shop stewart in our barn who is trying to do the right thing even see the time cards of my fellow hogs. its funny that the same hogs can work entirely different start times due to rebidding due to layoffs, and still rake in all the overtime. they must perform good under the desk!!!!!!!!!!!!

i went thru the same thing last year being laid-off as well as this year with guys getting ot and i asked them at the inforoundtable and they said this was not the case that ot was actually down wich was bullsh** the hogs went from 12-13 hours a day to 10-11 a day that is still ot while i sit at home along with 8 other guys and noone seems to care not even my stewart or ba

We have the same problems in Albany, steady guys working 55-60 hrs and the rest of the work force sitting home.I book-off when possible if a junior guy gets the day.But they would'nt replace me until the TM gives the ok. And the real kick in the balls is when they call the steady workers on the inbound crew to come in 2 hrs early. When I refuse to start early, they tell me that they will force me in 1 hr. because its in the contract (or I'm done).
The local tells us that we cannot tell them how they should run their co.
I feel bad for the guys not working but they have to put more pressure on the local to get more intouch with the regional manager and try to reason with them.
In most cases its not that the steady guys want to work o/t,its forced on us. Because the wording in the contract lets them.

I thought

that the shop stewards has access to anytime timecard at anytime for any reason......does your BA back the stweard...if he does then he could fix this in one phone call.......:smilie_132:

Forcing ?

I knew they could force you to stay 2 hours if they ....
A. Told you at the begining of the shift.
B. Told you 2 hours before the end of your shift.
I have never heard of them forcing you in early...that must be a new one...it is it in your local supplement

We have to tell them that we need to be done in 10 hrs before we punch in.In which I seen a ABF LETTERHEAD telling the dispatchers if the worker is on the street and already asked for 10 hrs and out, to keep the worker on the street if he is not finished. If the driver tell the dispatcher that he requested 10 and out ,the dispatcher is to tell the driver he has nobody else to cover the pick-ups and if you returns without finishing the job then he is fired.
I showed our B/A this letter and he said we will cross that bridge when we come to it.So that tells me that 10 hrs and out is only if they want to let you go.AND THE B/A TELLS US IF WE DO NOT REQUEST 10 AND OUT THEY OWN US FOR 14HRS NO MATTER IF YOUR ON THE DOCK OR IN THE STREET.

When they sold us this contract:  If you were dispactch for a pick-up after the 10th hour, when you have asked for an early out, you were entitled to triple time, like what is in the UPS contract.(That is what is was modeled after), Poor planning on thier part doesn't/shouldn't allow them to work us out of our familylife.
If your BA gives you the IT IS WHAT IT IS answer, ask him if he has a brother.:duh: HAHAHA!! My stomach hurts. I'm out

At YRC the dock supervisor at pgh would tell you 10mins before you went home to "plan on sticking around"

25% rule

overtime in o69 lou is running crazy......we have 30% of board laid off greivences filed..............but yet we sit at home and now they are fighting our unemployment

in the past we were told to punch a piece of paper before you start to work give it to the dispatcher when you come in that you want off at the end of your shift. they are suppose to do all they can to get you off on time. that was done local 402.

....the company according to the contract can keep you for 2 hours O/T(Dock). I also drive and had dispatcher try to force me to stay out and after my 10 hours are up if you tell them in theses exact words"I am fatigued"(as per DOT) then they can't force you to do anymore work but must bring you in. If you say anything else like....I am tired, I can't go on.....I need to get home....does not cover you "I am fatigued" is the only words that cover you ...A while back(8 yrs) before all of this merger stuff we had two roadway bosses come work at our place......I truly am not looking forward to banging heads again but I am willing to bet it will come down to it, they had the mentality of if you disagree with anything I say I will fire you attitude......that is where you have to beat them to death with the contract and also government (DOT) rules. Just because they say it is fact ...doesn't make it fact........
