Yellow | For all you Yellow guys/gals: Computers

Now let me ask this. Did the end of the line Yellow terminals have the computer on their fork-lifts or was it just at the break-bulks?

NO you are Wrong it is not there HOUSE it belongs to YRC every one need to get it through their heads there is no Roadway or Yellow we all have the same investment here we all work for the same new company so everbody needs to get over it and move on
This Roadway driver will respect my new Yellow home.

Quit b*tching about the damn computers on the hilos. Your vastly superior super freight system software IS GONE. And it's not coming back. So get over it. Roadway's is just fine. It's simple and to the point. As a casual I learned how to use the it over one weekend. It's so darn easy even a Yellow teamster can use it....or so I thought.:duh: Anyway, it's getting old listening to these guys cry about it everyday.

please read down thread titled "regular342" ...prounion

guess it s been along time since i been a dock ape just bills sign em on a manafest and put the bill in the box tecnology.you kids got it easy:Poke:

:smilie_132:I have no idea what you are trying to say but for some reason I just can't stop reading your post !!!!:biglaugh:

I think maybe they....I mean he...... has been drinking. I read it three times and slurred my speech every time! Hmmm.

The truth of the matter is that the RDWY system is what YRC is using. I have heard that the Yellow system was better......but we aren't using it. I could care less who's system it is, it just needs to work and everyone needs to learn it. In my opinion ABF has a better computer system but we aren't using it either. Just my 2 cents. DS.

Very interesting... Yellow's Linehaul system was easier to use than Roadway's, but the truth is much of the Roadway system is from the mid 90's. Conversely, most of the Yellow system is from the early to mid 80's. It's completely unmaintainable, and outside of field systems, has vastly inferior (due to age and technology) software for the corporate business users. Reality is both need updated, but are unlikely to be changed much anytime soon. (at least from a field systems perspective)

The easiest way to equate it is going from Windows 95 to Mac OS-11. Different systems with different parameters. One thing I have noticed is that in the RDWY heritage system, they work it just fine. On the Yellow side, the "Deer in the headlights" look is overwhelming! We both have to learn and grow. Get over the RDWY/YFSY mentality, we are YRC today. Get to work and make it work. The old way of doing business is gone, time to speed up and get with the program! Teamwork is the key. If they don't know it, teach them! We won't survive if you don't.

The computers are so easy a cave man can do it!!!!
Now that's funny I don't care who you are.
Most of us have figured out what we need to know, no thanks to our 5 minute orientation. We have evidently had it to good for these past 5-6 years and now must pay retribution to the BIG R gods of yRc. Sorry almighty ROADWAY god we won't complain about your pos computer anymore.:smilie_132:

And the Yellow system was 15 years old. The hand helds I used 6 years ago blew this away. I wonder how a really up to date system works. This old system covers everything from the dock to yard to city, to linehaul, poorly.

your right

your right roadways software is easy you'll need those skills to go on line to fill for unemployment when this ship finally sinks:smilie_132:

Windows 95?!

... maybe easy, but slowwww... it takes three minutes to print a waybill from the mainframe screen, and that's how we print 'em because the "frt" and "rapid" screens are only 10%-20% functional at CVE/RFO. (oops.. 218/257)

All the wild frt & horrible bill control is equaling a lot of down time for dock workers who come up for bills.

Especially, it seems, at the breakbulks, there are too many inefficiencies to count right now. Let's hope the problems are ironed out soon. :duh:
I saw one of the clerks using the "green screen" and it looked right out of around 1995!:Flame-On:

Well, well, as a casual, you may not have had a lot of exsposure to the "vastly superior super freight system soft ware". I can understand with a VERY limited knowledge of how our system really worked, that you would make such an uneducated response. How ever, most folks are coming to the conclusion that that Roadway system is ten to fifteen years behind the systyem we had. I guess with the influx of Roadway management, they HAD to keep a simpler sytem in place. Instead of pleasing the "MAN", talk to older hands that know our system, and I think you will find a difference of opinion on this matter.........bonebreaker.

Pushing 22 years in this business, it used to be much easier.
Put the bill in the box. When trailer was full the clerk put the pro numbers in the computer, and it was done.

Ya and listen to Gorden get fired up about a bill being miss loaded in the middle of the trailer... and we use to say it was Joe... Joe the RAT!!!! AHHH!!!!! the good old CF days!!!!:smilie_132:

Stimpy, you dumb@ss. I'd take another 10% cut now to be back at CF. Then I would make everyone listen to to AC/DC every night on the dock. I'm sure Daryl C would hate it not having Froggy 94 playing "My Guy". But seniority rules. Turn it up Butthead, this song rocks. Dammit, them were some fun times.
