New Penn | Holland closing 11 terminals in north east ?

Good morning guys. Im sorry this is a stupid question but is New Penn Union?

All drivers, dock and some mechanics are Union. Every Terminal is Union, but I don't know if the puerto rico terminal is.
I also don't know if any of the office staff is Union. I know Cinnaminson office is not

Benny you are correct in your guess, according to the 8-K link that KK put up, Richmond & Kansas looks to be going to YRC, and the rest to New Penn. Good Luck to all, I hope that New Penn & YRC can take as many, as apply for jobs.

According to the memo put out today, all northeast freight from Holland, will be handled by YRC and New Penn. YRC will handle Wichita and Richmond.:smilie_132:

I work for Yrc in the northeast and we are shuttling empty sets to the rail yard to be sent on to Chicago. I heard they want 300 empty pups to be distributed to 3 different terminals. Why are they so short on equipment? Weird!
I heard yrc is short on equipment also i was just talking with one of are drivers tonight and he said his kid works for yrc and things are messed up . They have line hall guys waiting 4 to 5 hours he said for tractors in ohio and some other terms in the system. That may be the reason they are taking some of hollands new equipment. Cant understand why they are short equipment.

inept management

how much of this freight do you guys really think you will get the shippers are already jumping ship and calling conway at least in the albany ny area

(Owlpuss)There always has to be one guy that puts a damper on things.I do understand how this really sucks for the holland guys. But finally there is a glimmer of light for New Penn. So if you have to be negative go somewhere else and do it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!And if by chance you are a holland driver which i hope you are not, dont come to New Penn!!!!!!!!!!!!

Today is no different than it has been for years.. We'll keep the freight that shippers are willing to pay to have delivered when it should be and undamaged...Conway can call on whoever they want. We have the headstart with now handling those accounts.
Freight has always been a service and price war business. And Newpenn has never been the cheapest carrier, but we service the accounts and we've been one of the best if not the best in the business. So we must be doing something right. Hopefully we keep a good chunk of the account and can put guys to work..

I do work for holland ay and worked at red star for 10 years before the closing the freight we moved in albany mostly went to mid west we took it from conway now they will get it back

why would you assume they will get it back? Does it matter to the shipper if holland picks it up or newpenn picks it up, if holland is still delivering it to the final destination in the midwest? The shipper is still getting the same pricing from newpenn that holland gave them.

If it's true that New Penn will honor Holland's pricing for 90 days, why would a customer go anywhere else?

I bet we keep a good part of the freight we deliver damage free and on time. I no at my barn in buffalo we are gearing up for a big jump in freight bringing all laid off men back . Good luck to you owlpuss i hope we take as many holland men as we can .

I hope NP does end up with this freight. I would much rather see you guys get the work than YRC, but I doubt they will get most of it. For whatever this is worth, I talked to a steward at yellow out of MI and they are being told that YRC will be taking a lot of the freight. He has already been promised (if you believe labor promises) 4 bids running east.....
This is a bad deal for all union members. 400 or so dues paying, pension contributing members are out of jobs. Some of them, Richmond and Wichita, are going to non-union YRC logistics. Our union is doing NOTHING to secure these jobs!

WHY do we keep reelecting these officials?

I haven't heard anything about the 90 days. Our sales are simply selling this as a seamless partnership between sister companies. grizz

Owlpuss I feel your pain man. The IBT should immediately put in place language preventing a sister company in YRC taking over service areas without consequences. All men under the YRC umbrella should be able to follow their freight. Maybe this would give YRC the incentive to sell subsidiaries instead of closing them up. This trend has to stop. Maybe this should be on the YRC board, but Owlpuss got my attention. Benny if you won't to move it, go ahead. Just my feelings GRIZZ

animal yrc cannot do next day freight in the east thats why they have new penn . Now i do agree this is a bad deal for are brothers at holland i no how it feels i went though it two times and i wish them the best.We wiil see after the first couple of weeks how much freight we hang on to .But if you read the change of ops that yrc filed its says new penn will handle everything but the richmond and wichita freight.Dont no about the labor promise i wish they could promise to put are 350 members back to work.I wont be voting for hoffa next time around hes done nothing for the freight divison in master freight .
