Correction: -6.5%. Cost $1.06 to make $1.00 BUT this includes all freight divisions (Freight, National, Custom Critical)... Details to trickle in...

Decisions!

if you see some of the f^&k&^ decisions that come out of road dispatch. We load unload reload so many trailers because of bad decisions from hro. And it's not that hard to figure out. Mind boggling. Dodn't run trips do vias run people back with mt's, i could go on and on. Maybe it's about time the management takes a beating in the next layoff. My 2yr old son figures crap out better than they do!!!!!!!!!! Idiots

Hours cut back ??? There is a "supervisor" (I use that loosely) in SGF that keeps the drivers just as late as he can,,,, doing idiot meaningless stuff.... instead of getting the freight back to their centers..... You figure an average of 8 guys (on his end of the dock) staying 1 hr later than needed due to current freight levels,,, thats $172 a day he is costing our company.... Add that up,,,,, hmmm..... oh well,, guess nobody cares.........

It would be really interesting, but not possible, to know what the O R would have been if HRO had left the West Coast alone instead of changing evey thing. JMO, it would have been a lot better. Don't fix somethig if it isn't broken.

Now is a better time to change things .. when its slow ...we have to run as one.

What I don't understand .... is national hauling freight for 1/2 the price ..... thats some BS ..... I don't care what reason you can give me ..... thats wrong for our brothers to cut our throats ..... it says fedex on the door .....

Yes 50% less than our already 65 or 70 percent discount. Cant see how we are going to come out ahead like that.:nutkick:

It must be true 'cause dude in the office said that our salesman was working his hiney off to get national more freight than us.

National is set up to directly compete with lower cost carriers ( R&L , Estes ). Where cost to the customer is more important then faster service. If we didn't have National to offer as an alternative for our customers we would loose that market share. :gathering:

TT, west was broken. Every 25 years or so, the entire ship needs to be scrubbed, polished and reordered. Kennon and Mahan did it in 1985. We were due.

Whether or not we like it...companies that don't change, die. Nowhere on the planet is Darwinism more true than in the business world. Those who adapt, survive; those who don't, die.

Don't believe me? Look at GM, Chrysler and Ford; compare them to Toyota, Honda and Nissan.

Every LTL company out there is either dying, or changing...God help us if we don't change fast enough. Remember the words of my older brother: "It's not the big that eat the small; it's the fast that eat the slow!".

We need to be faster than the competition, especially in reacting to the marketplace; the needs of our customers must be our only concern. How to react, how to change? Through flexibility. We must change quickly and correctly, with all team members working towards our goal of the ultimate customer experience every time!!!

Show me where we give a crap about our customers.

Show me where we are more flexible now than we were.

Hell, show me where we are a team.

You must believe in the posters all over the SC.

True that!

1) We do seem to care about SOME customers... Not all

2) We are indeed LESS flexible due to reduced workforce. This is before the coming "reduction in capacity". :duh:

3) We are a team in a way for "taking one for the team" :nutkick:

4) Posters! What posters?

Drove I75 from ORL north towards VLD on Friday. 3 1/2 hour trip and here is the rundown that I witnessed on my drive (personal vehicle):

3 FX National sets
3 YRC sets
3 SAIA sets
3 Conway sets
1 FXFE set!!!

It's all in the timing. When I drove my daughter home form New York last spring, I didn't see any National sets until I got to Nebraska, I did see a lot of Freight sets.
