ABF | Did ABF buy USF?

Does anyone really believe YRC will sell ABF a company and not take the profitable accounts before they sell. Enough is enough already. Give it up already, I don't think ABF is that dumb.

Yrc would have the accounts already if wanted them.our customers decide on their own who they choose to use.yrc doesn't tell them who to use......if yrc had the ability to use mind control over a customer they wouldn't be in the predicament they're in.

If ABF buys any existing trucking company it would only make sense for them to look at Reddaway west coast. Their service on the west coast can not compete with regional carriers. If they are not going to open the rpm service here they need an existing carrier who has the plan in place. Our customers laugh at our service up and down the I-5 couridor.

I said it once and i'll say again.Yellow is not in the freight moving business, their in the real estate business.Roadway owned all their properties out right. Now there's hardly anything left. And everything else is used to secure loans. That fact of the matter if Roadway didn't come along Yellow would have been out of business by now.Somebody behind the scenes loaned them the money and they turned around and sucked us dry!Does anyone remember the "151" line?Enough said....Boy i needed that. I feel better now.

From what I hear Holland and other USF companies were doing FINE on their own before Yellow bought them.

I was referring to the parent company Arkansas Best Corp. is a better run and managed company as compared to YRCW. Holland has always been a well ran company, all of that came to a halt when YRC came in and started to change things around.

You people had better wake up to the fact that things have got to change at ABF. ABF isn't going to buy anything till IT'S TIME. They know what they are doing. They aren't dumies down there. In order to stay in up on top there are going to be alot of changes. Pull your heads out of your BUTT'S,there are people that want your jobs. Why, because they haven't worked in a very long time and they have to feed their families. There are alot of you at ABF that have no idea what that is like because you were lucky enough to be working for a company that knows what they are doing.

Why would any of us at Holland want ABF to buy us. At least where we are at we are operating as a seperate company. If ABF buys us what makes anyone think that they would not combine us and then we would have to dovetail? Not a good situation for anyone involved, except for ABF to take over Holland's freight and junk equipment.

Have you read any of the articles stating the money trouble YRC is in? YRC has deferred payment to the pension and now they can't pay the $45 million they had promised their creditors. The article states,"If YRC is unable to make this payment, it is very likely YRC will not ever be able to turn a profit again." Why wouldn't you want ABF to buy us? Seems like a good move for all of USF employees.

Once again....... We at ABF were told by our president that "ABF is not buying USF HOLLAND or NEW PENN, we are looking to purchase a logistic type company" How much more clearer can someone put this so others will finally understand?

I love how you guys listen to management. Truth is we usually know more than they do. Also, USF has a logistics company and a truckload company. This is what I think would entice ABF to purchase the whole package. On the west coast, nobody can beat Reddaway's service. This would also interest ABF as we have nearly 100 line drivers just out of our FON terminal and 80+ of them run the I-5 corridor. Reddaway dominates this area for next day and 2 day service. Money wise, YRC charges each individual terminal a "FEE" to operate under YRC. FON's fee is $480,000 a month. Without this "FEE", Reddaway FON would be operating in low to mid 80's. How would this not entice a company like ABF to purchase us in a time of financial uncertainty and dropping tonnage?

Yep, and YRC Logistics has only had a 1% decline in freight this last quarter... CO-INKY-DINK?:TR10driving03:

I'm not trying to hurt anyone's feelings but if ABF already has all the terminals and all the tractors they need plus plenty of drivers sitting around what makes you think that they wouldn't just shut you down and take the accounts?

don't know what world you live in but i worked for holland in mobile, al. yrc would take and give us accounts. it's called discounts. to take a good account from holland you raise our discount then lower yellow. easy uh!!!!!

and what makes you think the accounts would stay with abf? they're shipping with usf and new penn now for a reason...

Not wanting to bust anyones bubble, but when ABF bought Carolina they ended up with nothing but big "head aches". Carolina people fought them for a long time, and cause alot of problems. ABF said that the next time they buy a company that it would be alot different. They aren't going to make the same mistakes again. So use that for food for thought.

Ive been with Holland for 14 years. There was a time when you said I work for Holland and you had pride. The employees still have the pride but we are soooo mismanaged. Whatever happens and whoever if anyone buys us, it would be so nice to be Holland again and show what we are made of. If this does happen, the ABF people can be proud to have us. Our people would be an asset to ABF.

I can't see ABF buying another LTL co. Everything I've read only speaks of truckload and logistics companies. The one thing ABF does not have.
