Let's use Truckingboards the way it is intended... Let's discuss a matter we all are aware of, our INSURANCE.

Two weeks ago I went into the Pharmacy to get a prescription filled that used to cost less than $1.00. I was told by my the Pharmasist that now the insurance will not pay anything towards this prescription, so I was required to pay nearly $20.00..... So insurance cost goes up and gets worse (in my opinion).... All of this with no Cost of Living???

I know of a lot of other Drivers in Wilmington who are :Flame-On: about the Insurance too. Oh yeah - sent for the Book of Explanations (since we are no longer given one) three months ago, and have yet to receive....

I would like to know what everyone else thinks or has experienced with this new Insurance..... Thanks.

Did you ask how much it was before they ran it through the ins.? Most presciptions that we've had filled cost less than the $20 co-pay. Thats why they went to this system more out of pocket for the employee... Besides most major chain Pharmacies have plans to purchase cheap generic drugs cheaper than paying the twenty bucks.

i mis-spoke - sorry.... after reading your post, i got out my receipt.... I paid 12.00.....

i was just shocked - to go from paying less than $1.00 to now the insurance not paying at all??? esp. with paying more for insurance.....

I had to take my son to the Emergency room. Thought he broke his thumb playing baseball. Turns out it was just hyper extended. When I went to check out with the nurse I was given a bill for $100 payable right there and then. I could not believe it I had to pay that much for the copay. What if I didn't have any money to pay?

Our insurance isn't perfect, I'm sure none is, but I do know that alot of my friends at other companies pay $200 or $300 or more per month out of their paychecks and I don't pay anywhere near that much.

My script went from being a dollar a month to $10. I guess that's still "cheap" but.. only paying $1 was really nice.

Anyone know how long it takes for R+L to take away benefits? Hubby is voluntarily going part-time and nobody can tell him how much longer we'll have coverage.

Voluntarily going part-time??????? Are they slow there???

PRIDE POINTS use them or lose them. They are good at
Kroger, Wal Mart, Shell, BP, the movies, McDonalds, Wendys
almost any place you can think of. I heard that our 401K will
get a PRIDE POINT match this year. Now I understand why
we didnt get a raise and our insurance went up and out of
pocket went up and deductables went up.........WE GOT
PRIDE POINTS:duh::Bondage::bicycle::holysheep:

No, he's going back to school so he asked if he could go part-time. There's no way he could do it and work 50+ hours a week. They've been saying this since April but "things keep coming up" so we'll see when it actually happens.

I have nothing from R+L. Long story but I will make it short. I do not need everything. I just needed Short. Long term, Life and Dental. But because Not taking the whole deal I get nothing. Also company paid life insurance. I don't get. So when open enrollment came around I was not informed. So another year without. I hope I can get on with the whole deal this year even if I don't need it.

A great new benefit that R&L has provided is the flexible spending debit card. That benefit was added to specifically address any and all out of pocket costs an employee may have. Any money put onto the card by an employee is tax free to the employee and also lowers the employee's taxable income, so you save money in state and federal income taxes. You can then use the flexible spending debit card to buy anything you need at the pharmacy, as well as any co-pays or out of pocket medical costs. Its a great benefit and we should be grateful that R&L has offered this benefit to its employees. R&L is a great company.

Ok people here is my take on the insurance issue. First it is your responsibility to know how your benefits work, it is not the companies job to babysit you so you get the most of your benefits.

YES we have a $100.00 emergency room co-pay, if the hospital demands it at time of service that is between you and them, has nothing to do with the insurance. You should know what you co-pays are.

Now add up all you have payed in insurance over the time you have been here. Have you received that much or more in prescription, doctors, dentist, vision coverage then your ahead don't b****. I know I'm ahead. I know a guy who had a family member in the emergency room recently the bill was over $6000.00 that is far more then he has payed into the system since he has been employed here. LOOK AT THE WHOLE PICTURE.

Now on to prescription coverage, under the old policy we payed 20% the insurance payed 80% now we pay $10.00 co-pay for generic drugs and $25.00 co-pay for brand name drugs. if the drug is cheaper than the co-pay you pay the cheaper price which would be the full price and the insurance pays nothing. If your drugs are on the $4.00 Wal-mart drug list you'll pay $4.00 for a one month supply.
As for guys saying they payed $1.00 now they pay almost $20.00 I find that hard to believe $1.00 is 20% of $5.00 even if your paying the whole thing that should only be $5.00. double check your receipts, ask the pharmacy if the retail price went up.

KNOW YOUR BENEFITS AND HOW THEY WORK
ARE THEY THE BEST, NO BUT THEY WORK, IF YOU FOLLOW THE PROPER CHANNELS

You are right, it is the responsibility of each of us to know te benefits of our insurance..... That is why I ordered my benefits book (since apparently they have also been cut off the budget) and after many months still have yet to receive.... I have called everyone and their brother, don't do a thing.....

i went to the ER in January, there is a 100 dollar co-pay to go to the ER and then there is another 100 dollar co-pay when the doc comes to see you, so it is really a 200 dollar co-pay for an ER visit, i had a lot of doc visits for weeks after that and a lot of drugs to take, compared to everyone that i know, our insurance is decent, not the best but decent, i just wish they had aflac

Was it a specialist? Only reason I ask is that I have been to the ER twice this year & have only had to pay the 100 each time.. It also seems to me that United No-Care was also 100 bucks for the ER...

I know the insurance is not the best but you have to do the math in advance..

Insurance at my wife's work is 95 per person per week. For my family that is $19,760 in premiums per year plus a 10 dollar co-pay at the doctors office, 100 at the ER and 15 prescriptions.

R & L's junk is 2500 year for the family plan. There is a lot of room to pay what the crappy insurance company won't.. And if we don't spend it, I can keep it..

Also do not forget on those Health & Dependent care spending accounts- IF YOU DON'T USE IT YOU LOSE IT TO (you guessed it) Robbie's boat fund... There are NO REFUNDS

Should not be $100.00 for each. Are you sure the charge for the doctor wasn't part of your deductible? Check your records if they charged you wrong get on the phone with the health ins. company get it worked out. Or maybe call the doctor or hospital, whoever billed you the extra $100.00.
BE AGGRESSIVE THAT IS YOUR MONEY THEY ARE SPENDING

DON'T EVER ASSUME THE BILL IS CORRECT CALL AND RAISE H*LL IF IT LOOKS WRONG.

WATCH YOUR BILLS LIKE A HAWK DON'T PAY ANY TILL YOU HAVE AN EOB FROM THE INS. COMPANY

Also depending on who your coverage is through your EOB may be available online.

Haven't heard anything about this card. I never got a book on benifits either. I do know that a diabetics cost have gone down. All refills are $25.00,compared to $50.00 or more before. Don't like the high deductable,so I would like to know more about this card thing. It would be nice to be able to put somethiing aside, pre tax.

i did call the insurance and i did raise hell, the lady from the insurance took my info and called me 2 days later and said that the bill was correct and it is 100 bucks to get checked in and 100 bucks for the doc to see you, for the one who asked if i saw a specialist, i did but that was completely separate billing, i talked to other people at my terminal and they said the same thing, i am guessing that it is a state thing, i don't know, the 100 bucks, or 200 bucks is a co-pay, my deductible is 350

That is not true.... Plus we as diabetics cannot receive the same quantity of medicine at the same time as before....
