XPO | Who is the number 1 DSR?

I will try........not trying to raz you.....you know. I also thought, but am not 100%.....that CCX started a day b4 CWX. I need to pull out my original History of CNF.....the true thick book.

I know .... and I am sure someone else who may be reading this thread disagrees with us also ... if anyone knows for sure jump in ..

Thats awsome that you have been around that long. You Big Strappers inspire me, I want to be the Big Strapper in my terminal but it will never happen, I was too old when I started and there alot of younger drivers who have strap on me. Oh well, you've got me by 20 years.

Yea........He is a big strapper for sure..........

there is a driver at xdp who thouht he was #1 when ccx opened. which he is but a couple years ago found out cwx opened first #1 was out there unless they have left since then.

That is what I thought also .. XPB from what I understand was not an original 11 of the ccx terminals

CCX started operations June 20th 1983.....(89 shipments on day one). It says CWX received it operating authority in the end on March 1983 and California intrastate authority in early april 1983.. Dwiggins established opertions in a training center in at Orange California. On May 16 1983, they began operations. All from the book titled "Never Stand Still" A history of CNF Transportation inc.

I stand corrected on who would be the number one trucker. He is way out west somewhere.

XPB was an original of 11, I used to run there at night in 83 Had to blind side into last few doors on the back side of the building, front doors were on the street HaHa a funky piece of town down on the river.

I heard a guy named Tom S. is the number one man in all of Con-way land. I think he is DSR out of XDP.
Can someone in that area verify?
(LOL I said "Heard"...."I was told"...there we go.)

The easiest way to figure this out might be to ask a personnel supervisor that can get answers (the getting answers part eliminates mine). That's a really good question though.. I've worked with a lot of 85's and some of them have been in a ton of different locations - they wouldn't be number one company wise but I was 5 when they started here so I have a lot of respect for them. A couple of them are from Chicagoland and kept moving East to open terminals during the Eastern expansion which I found interesting.

I doubt I'll ever make it to number one in the company but I have a real good shot at making it to number one someday at my terminal. I just turned 30 a little while back and started here when I was 22. I'll say one thing, I'm definitely glad I started here so young. I was able to go through all the lack of work days in my early 20's when I viewed them as a good thing so I could go party..haha.. All kidding aside, I'm really glad I stuck it out and it's great to pretty much be able to do whatever I want now..

According to Con-Ways book, Western had their insterstate operating authority in March 1983. " Con-Way Western Express had a sluggish start on May 16 , with 11 service centers in California,Arizona and Navada.".... " The first night they only had 8 shipments" Pg 73. "Con-Way Central Express offically opened for business on June 20 1983, with service centers to 1,004 points from only 11 service"...." With 56 employees, the company handled 89 shipments that totaled 179,160 pounds" Pg # 74

I'm in the midwest too, and have met the guy you speak of, Tom S. @ XDP-- He's very nice, and everyone has always told me he is #1. Whether it's true or not, after reading this thread I don't know. If he is, then good for him. He's a nice guy.

i believe that jay v. at my barn in xco is the oldest man I understand he actually was hired before day 1 to help set up the old terminal.
