Yellow | 4 hour calls and holiday pay

I think it's very unfortunate that the phrase shall be offered daily in the sentence “Work performed by this new classification shall be offered daily first to laid off local cartage workers.” has somehow been ignored or misinterpreted.

The whole MOU is unfortunate!!!

Well, this is all pointless now....the TM just called and they have recalled him back to work! Part of me is happy and part of me will miss the flexibility he had.

The MOU falls under the first 39 articles which is the same for EVERYONE. In the southern conference if you have been laid off more than 30 days before a holiday you are not going to get holiday pay even if you work the day before a holiday. Force the company to use seniority on calling laid off for all shifts 4 or 8 hrs. No lists!!!

wow are you kidding me flexibility lady people are losing their jobs and homes across america and you want flexibility. Are you kidding me what you need to dois go out get a job and have your husband take over your computer gig. No he should take it away from you. You make me sick Holiday pay should he work four hours or eight hours. There is no wonder to me why yellow is hurting. BTW make sure you leave the plug out of the boat next time.I know you have a boat

How about you show some class and quit insulting people just for the sake of posting !

Even though I disagree with it's tone and content, I believe it should be allowed because it probably represents the point of view of many out there.

I would like to see where this leads.

It's not leading anywhere with me. Not taking the bait. All I was saying was that after 10+ years of him working nights and EVERY weekend, it was nice to plan a couple of weekends off together. The silver lining in the cloud, if you will. I am relieved that we have some stability again.

And I am hopeful that all the other laid off workers are recalled as well. I may have been callous in disregarding those who have sat by the phone for the past year and not gotten many calls. To those, I sincerely apologize.

Personaly I understand exactly what she is saying. How many times has trucking got in the way of someones life. Missed ball games, Birthdays, and yes the Holidays were one is kept out so that when you get in you go to bed or slump in to the easy chair while the party goes on around you. I chose it, my fault but If you find a problem with what she was trying to convey then you deserve it in my mind.

Thank you, Wolf. You have no idea how many of our (started to type my) kids' and family events he has missed over the years. Either at work or too tired. If he wants to go to something and be halfway human he has to take 2 days off, so he's not up all night and all day or going in on no sleep.

The trucks, terminals and offices of YRC represent a capitol investment. Management's job is to obtain the highest possible return on that investment.

The Union's objective is to provide the highest possible return on it's members investment—it's labor.

Your inquiry was no more callous than a supervisor asking, “What took so long?”

Who are you to speak to me in that tone and call me spoiled? You don't know me, my family or any of our trials and tribulations. My employment status is none of your business.

She wasn't trying to game the system. She made an inquiry as to what her husband was entitled to receive. How does that make her spoiled? Are you not selfish for living better than others?

Me asking was no different than trying to find a tax loophole come April 15. No one wants to give extra money to the govt, and we don't want to give it to YRC. The 15% should be enough for them. I'm not even sure if that's what made him mad, though. He seems fixated on whether or not I work, which is irrelevant. I wouldn't mind telling someone who was friendly and genuinely interested. Not the case here.

u know what u dont work i dont need to ask but you are spoiled and dont work. ur husband works hard and u sit back and enjoy. dont come on here and complain abt working hrs when people are losing their homes. ur whole question was ridiculous
