Can't track the equipment without a brick in the truck.
OH yes they can. It's called the Eden System. Often referred by safety as the E System.
Search back through old threads for GPS or Eden system. plenty of good info on this.

So you give your kid a cell phone for them to use in case of an emergency, but you are not allowed to call them to see where their at. But yet you are the one that bought the cell phone. SAME PRINCIPLE, DIFFERENT SITUATION. COME ON, GET OVER IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. It's their company, who cares if they paint the b^&Th pink. They can do what the heck they want who gives a shat. Are you 20, 30, 40, or 50 something or maybe just 5. Because alot of responses and topics on here make me wonder weather we are working with adults or children. My point is that they tell us it's for tracking equipment, not people. We all know that is a bunch of s*it, just wondering why they can't be straight with us. I know it goes against everything they believe in, but really. We're not stupid. (Unless you park at your house when you're supposed to be working....)
Had a driver tell dispatch back when I ran city that I was taking lunch at the house, he said so, as long as it's on route I could care less where he takes his lunch....
FM

Sooooooooo, can you explain how they are going to track the freight in PT? Oh, I know, the contract companies are going to allow FedEx access to their company computer systems. Can't wait for winter when the freight in a FedEx truck passes the parked pt truck and we have to explain to a customer who had a shipment on each why we can't deliver both on the day promised. Oh wait I know, we will just pretend to show the customers their freight is still moving. No matter how you cut it this just will blow up in someones face. Nothing like being told you will be able to track you shipment in real time and you have to pay to do it, only to find out you can't really do it.It couldn't be that FedEx is looking to stay on the leading edge of technology and freight tracking. Which are great selling points to our customers.
No could never be that. No, this is all about me. Ya, that's it. It's a conspiracy, has to be. Why? Well isn't everything a conpiracy?
I mean really is not this whole world and every one in it here just to screw me?
:bananalama:
Hey, where's the kool aid? .............Ya, need some .....Please......Hey KOOOLAAAIDDD...

Well, that's what we were told. Equipment tracking only.
If you are tracking equipment you are going to no where the driver is??
I havent seen our equipment hook it's self and go hit the road and make del or meet points, Think about what you are saying!!
Good lord. If they track the equipment, they can track the freight that is inside the equipment. That's why they call it "tracking". If their computer screen shows the tractor that I'm tied to, then yes. They can tell where I am at the same time.
Thing about what you are saying!!

We were talking about this very thing the other day. Many of these PT drivers are newbies. They'll park it when the weather gets bad. I haven't looked, but do they even have chains on their rigs? I'd love to see them try and get over Snoqualime without 'em! Heck, like to see them get out of Portland without them!
i go home 4 lunch if im doing a city route by my house. sometime ill just have wife meet me for lunch and i leave the truck in a parking lot. other times i will go park at the beach and go for a walk but never out of the route im working. never been told that i was not aloud to do this just told dont go out of the area im working also 1 of the guys i work with said that other than lunch we can take to 1o minute breaksnot clocked in on imac thing but have not read the new rule book yet
You should check on this, you say sometimes you leave your truck in a parking lot....I'm 99% sure you leave your truck unattended or out of eyesite weather its loaded, locked, or whatever, your in deep doo doo.
No. Unless you're placarded, you are to be relieved of ALL duty during your lunch hour. That means you have no responsibility to the unit as long as it's locked and secured.
Of course, if you're placarded, you can't be relieved of duty. You have to have the unit in sight during your lunch, so effectively, you are still on duty duty during your lunch.
