XPO | useing a con-way truck to haul your own stuff

I've seen this happen before, a DSR stopped for lunch @ walmart picked up something for himself he brought it back to the yard @ the end of the day. when he unloaded it, the SCM saw it asked him about it and fired him that day.So maybe you might want to throw this driver a bone and let him or her know that's a bad idea.

Welcome 2

I thought what we did on our lunch was nobody's business but our own...within reason of course.

Nevermind,

Most of our guys still take their lunch at the end of the day while they are back at the service center anyways. There is no Walmart at the service center.

But that is the whole problem, "with in reason". Who decides what with in reason is? 10 people witness an accident and you get 10 different views of what happened.

The rule is to make sure your fos knows about it. The other day I delivered to a customer that was selling things cluttering up his warehouse. I called dispatch told them about the deals, it was my last stop, so I picked up some stuff for them also. As long as it doesn't stop you from doing your job, and doesn't prevent making a pickup that needs to be done, and you check with your FOS first, it's ok. Basic rule of thumb, unless it's hurting you, or someone else, leave it alone. If you had to cover his pickups because he was screwing around, then yeah say something, but if you nor the company suffered then why would you even consider telling on someone. Come on, didn't you learn not to be a tattle tale as a child?

I'll stick my 2 cents in if its okay. I like his solution if its something large. Other than that, my rule of thumb is to pick it up on my time, not detour to get it and if it fits in the tractor its personal, if its to large to do so, see above recommendation.

is it ok to pick something up for your self on company time and haul it back to your barn? is that not stealing services from con-way? i just happen to see an erie city driver do that on 9/15. should i call the GO? to see what the policy is:Rulz:
you need to get a life STOP BEING A BACK STABBER.:eck13::eck13:

I never worked at conway but I remember my buddies who did ***** and moan about the people who took their lunch at the service center at the end of the day. They always said it was these peoples 2nd or 3rd lunch break and thats what bothered him. Now all he did was ***** and moan and never reported it but he eventually took his own advice and quit. I'll never understand how people can ***** and moan and keep working someplace. Now everyone *****es sometime but those who ***** all the time need to leave. Being happy and making less money is a win win. If you cant take a small pay cut then your finances are wrong and thats probably what brings the unhappy feelings.

STILL SEARCHING FOR THE PERFECT JOB.:shift:

It never even crossed my mind that people are taking multiple lunches. Dispatch is rushing these guys as though all and everything is urgent and are told to not take lunch yet as there is work to do....NOW!

When the pick ups are done they are told to hurry that freight into the service center so that it can be broke.

Then when the driver tries to get a "no-lunch" authorization, they are told that they should have taken their lunch out on the street....while he was busting his hump trying to keep up with dispatch....But if the driver wants to take it in their 7th hour, it would be ok.

I see guys taking their lunch at the end of the day, - everyday. For most peeps, that's about the time the family eats dinner. As long as the drivers say it's ok, then dispatch/management will continue to take advantage of a good thing.

I take my lunch during the hours specified in what used to be our policy guide, although I would be happy to work through lunch if they paid me for it.

Forcing someone to work without stopping for lunch is a violation of OSHA and NLRB rules.
If this happened to me on a regular basis, I would file a claim against the company......
or try to organize, because the union contract has specific wording when it comes to lunch and break periods.
although I would be happy to work through lunch if they paid me for it.
see above sentence!!

On second thought....never mind.....this is Conway, and you'd probably get fired for trying to do either..:TR10driving03:

those that suggest that someone should RAT on a coworker should first make sure that they are squeaky clean which who among us is?

does the thought even cross peoples mind that a persons career could be at stake? does it cross peoples mind they could get popped in the mouth for tattle tales..............go ahead and tell on him. maybe you can schedule a dentist appt too.

I get tired of the con-way that has become, I just cant get enough of the new and improved company but to come and read more and more of this stuff. "should I tell on him?"

I just never know if my stuff will get blocked or not.
