XPO | Handhelds freezing

I wish they would assign us our own, but I know that would be impossible at our place. But if we did have our own, then we would better take care of it. These things get dropped, thrown, and who knows what else. we're always having some kind of trouble with them.

I was told from one of our city drivers that FedEx had these same handhelds. They got rid of them because of all of the problems.

Anyone else having freezing or slow handhelds? Will let you scan your badge but then won't let you put in the SIC code?

Help me understand how you know so much about the handhelds if you are the "Tiredvrswife". Seems confusing because you know way to much about the in's and out's of operations........Do you scan your husband with these things or does your husband bring this thing home and teach you how to do this redundant job. The whole thing appears, to say the least, a bit peculiar. Why would this be your concern?

Lots of companies use scanners just like ours. I was delivering something to a drug store and the guy delivering the ice cream was useing the same thing. We held them up against each other to compare, identical. I have seen alot of them being used in wharehouse enviroments as well.

Well I believe that she is a hands on wife. Hubby shares his day and she throws out what she knows here and waits for replies. Good or bad. My wife knows what is going on here also. I share the good, bad and the ugly with her. Helps me defuse and relax. She likes hearing what goes on during my day.

So, what I am saying is, maybe you should just give her break. This is an open forum. Take it easy and try to enjoy the new year.

Freezing and brakeage.... we started out with about thirty and lost about ten due to entenas braking, cracked screens, key pads not working and internal problems. they were sent to be fixed and we never got them back.

Dick Yuengling helps me diffuse. Who said I wasn't taking it easy? This forum is very open and that is why we post, THANK YOU! Just an observation on my part. Tirdrvswife or you haven't answered the question very well though. In this household my significant other really doesn't want to hear about inept equipment or failing programs or an IT department in India that speaks very broken English. Been here a long time and observations are quite entertaining to say the least. Keep it coming, YOU are part of the entertainment.

Why doesn't the party that I directed the question to answer? Just wondering.....Poof, gone with one post.

1tdriver, I'm never gone with just one post. I work taking calls for FEDEX, I set up pickups, track packages and listen to people screaming, start claims, provide information and go through notes to see what is going on with an account or claim.

I've also actually delivered with my husband way back when. Been on hot shot runs, had my own CDL at one time and drove bob trucks. I'm as comfortable in setting at a spa getting my nails done along with my pedicure (have lovely silver toes with diamond sets and red fingernails right now).

My husband isn't the only family member to work at Conway and I"ve actually received my own pay from Conway working for them, years ago. My dad was a truck driver, my son in law is one too. Also my husband talks to me. Maybe that is the secret to our staying together for 34 years? We talk and he can share his work day with me? I listen then wonder if the same thing is going on elsewhere in the system or if things are different. I also share with my husband what others say on here.

He has NEVER posted on this board.

I also talk to him about my day on the job, about trying to get messages to the FedEx P&D guys, both ground and express. My own mother used to help my dad study for his tests at any new job he went to, be it Mayflower, Red Ball or GP. My mother in law worked in the office while my father in law managed his own P&D business years ago, the same company I helped deliver my husband when he delivered. I rode with him, got packages ready while he got the bills together or vise versa. I saw the paperwork, talked about road rights, deregulation, etc.

I've seen the handhelds, been in the breakroom while the guys talk about them. I sometimes go meet my husband as he either gets off work or is just going to work, depending on my work schedule that day. Just so we at least talk face to face once a day. Yeah, we have our spats and fights but we've been together a long time. Does't look like that will be changing any time soon.

I'm not upset that people think I "know" too much to be just a wife, I find it to be a compliment. When you stop learning, might as well be dead. I can also talk name brand clothing, how to fix your Directv receiver (my past job), minor work on plumbing, cars, building houses, what latest hairstyle is in fashion. Not a thing wrong with observing and asking questions.

And yes, I am a woman. I don't think a man can get on another man's nerves as badly as I've mnaged on this board sometimes LOL!

She actually made you feel like family. That was way before coorperate america got their greedy little fingers dug in.She was the t.m. and her husband dispatched. I will never forget her and it was one of the best times i had in the freight bus. I like reading your post's and replies as your knowledge does shine through.

Not just one post and poof. Unlike you I guess, I have a life and don't spend 24/7 on the computer waiting to see what "1tdriver" has to say. I did think that I answered the question. I told you that my wife likes hearing about my day and wants me to come home and tell her. Not my problem yours don't. POOF!

When I first met my hubby his parents ran the P&D sc. The atmosphere was professional but homey. We'd have pots of food, sweets and other stuff. I do miss those days.
