When drivers who have been laid off for over a year are recalled, when do they become eligible for their earned vacation time? Example: Let's say your anniversary date is August 1st and you've been with the company for over 8 years which earns 3 weeks a year vacation time. If you were laid off in Dec. 2009 and recalled in Dec. 2010 do you automatically become eligible for 3 weeks vacation time or do you have to work a certain amount of time before you become eligible for vacation time again?

If you are Central States local cartage read Art.51 sec.1. You must work 60% of the work days in any 12 month period.

I am with Holland in the Central States plan....I was on layoff two years and have to work 156 "tours"to acquire my 2 weeks vacation...I believe this "156 day tour aplies to anyone on layoff over 6 mos. I called payroll specifically about this yesterday and was told I did not have any vacation time until I met the 156 day period...no prorated or etc....I then asked the payroll person how long I had to acquire this 156 day period, 1 year from date recalled back to work...during my anniversary to anniversary date? This person checked with her supervisor and "wasn't sure" !!!!

I see nothing in Article 51 or anywhere about the "156 day tour". I just tried calling my local....umm, Thurs Dec 30...the voice mail said they are shut down for the New Years Holiday

Any help and/or comments??? :regretful:

Don't quote me here but the way I always understood it is that you would be eligable for the three weeks now because , though layed off your anniversary date has earned it BUT........You have not worked the required time to earn the vacation for next year . I think as soon as you do make the required days of work you will indeed have the three weeks for the following year.
