Does anybody know what company makes our cheater chains, the ones that just have 2-bars and go through 1 hole on the rim? Are they really called "Cheater chains"? I have a friend who works for another company and he would like to buy a set and try them, he goes to a lot of dark terminals in Nevada and has been having nightmares getting stuck, he is from California and it is his first time in the snow. Thank you in advance.

I call them "digouts". You can buy them @ tirechains.com. Be careful though, some companys don't want you touse them. I'd suggest you check your company policies or if you tear something up be sure you take them off be fore someone sees them.

If you make sure you have them nice and tight they work great. If they're loose they will break quite easily. Be sure not to put them throught the hole where the valve stem is !

the co. furnishes them in the midwest, ask your fos or whoever orders supplies or get ahold of your saftey man

i brought this up to my scm and fos maybe 2 years ago...i made my own, just bought 4' chain sections and a hood and there you go...but they said they couldnt buy them/provide the chain when the other drivers seen me using them

In my New England terminal I think every tractor has a set of quick chains in the cab. And the shop has a couple 5 gallon buckets stuffed with extra sets you can grab.

All (or at least most) of the L/H units have full chains hanging on the frame.

I don't see why they wouldnt supply you guys with some chains.

That`s a great idea Bank, wonder what the tm will say, when I tell him that? " we need you" you have to be here!:TR10driving03: sound about right?
I'm trying to picture my boss asking if everything is ok in a reassuring and comforting way.
No, he would just laugh.

we have them in all of our tractors we are told if you need to use them go a head no problem i used them quite often their are nice and easy to use and they will get out if not in too deep remember DO NOT PUT THE CHAINS STRAP THROUGH THE SAME HOLES AS THE VALVE STEAM IS ON THE VALVE STEM WILL BREAK THEN THAT WILL BE YOUR PROBLEM we had one of our drivers from my barn did that blew the stem and was sitting with two flat tires
