I went up to Camp Hill from Colombus the other night ,then on down to Youngstown .I see a lot of Holland Drivers go to bed up there,My question is why dont they turn that from Akron ,Youngstown ,and Cleveland and save on all those motel bills?

they would rather throw money away, than give it back to you.

When I drove linehaul for Redstar they would put us to bed for many different reasons but one of the most used was they needed the power because their guys were in bed somewhere else..It always came down to one basic thing :duh: we just didn't see the ""BIG"" picture..

Well For 1 the four places that have bids into Camp Hhill are set up to receive freight from the terminals in the system overnite. Then they in turn move it to Camp Hill that morning to arrive early evening. It gets to Camp Hill in time to make their outbound. While the road drivers are sleeping all the freight that New Penn picks up going to Holland arrives in Camp Hill, and loads are made. Drivers leave early am going back home so the freight again can make outbound at Holland. When it works right you can have a shipment picked up in Boston on Monday and delv. in Kansas City on Wedensday.(boston sends it to Camp hill monday nite, then a holland driver leaves camp hill tuesday morning heading to Indy. Arrives around 7pm makes outbound cut and delvs. wed. in K.C.) Not bad service

jimjoe: very good explanation. I run one of those bids from CI. Most times 8 for 10. This arrangement gives much needed work for laid off Teamsters in Pa.

jimjoe got it 100% right.freight exchange between holland and npme is either 2nd and some 3 day freight deliver times.if they turned you guys, you all be going west with empties.

one of the most wackiest trips for me was come from the house to framingham ma for holmes trans bobtail to carlstadt nj and go to bed . It would have been cheaper to rent a truck if they needed the power.
