It has become apparent that the company will be seeking an extension of the pension contribution deferrals. That being said, how would you likely vote on any extension later this year?
 
The pension is over with and Glen Moore is hauling our freight. I say YES! You've bent over and voted yes for everything else? Why not once more? Why not throw in another 10% wage cut too?
 
Deferral is not the same as cessation. Deferral means nothing to us as we have already been given credit for that time and have terminals for collateral. Admittedly it will affect the funds bottom line. I have not seen any talk about the cessation being extended...........YET! Did I miss it? :popcorn:

[/quote]..............Wolf this is really going to be interesting to the retirees who just left in the recent months..............It will all depend on how everthing is worded if yrc should want a cessation in Jan. 2011...........Goodluck to all.......... :drama:
 
From what I know Zollars was talking about the FIRST pension deferment from before we voted on the total pension cut . Remeber YRC didnt pay into the pension all of 2009 but we didn't vote on it till half way through the year . The owe the Teamsters funds 151 million on that due Jan 2011 .

Wolfe asked during Tuesday’s conference call whether YRC expected to seek an extended reprieve from the pension payments, and whether it would be willing to offer additional stock awards in exchange.

But Zollars said it wasn’t the right time to discuss that, and YRC has “not started negotiations with (the union) yet.”

Asking for a extension sure why not
Asking for anothe pay cut sure why not
Asking for a health welfare break sure why not
Asking is not the problem is it??

 
It's a shame, Even with all the info. available here on truckingboards, the internet, and co-workers..........
As of this posting there is 10 people who would vote yes.........
 
Yeah theres 10 that say they will vote yes, but when the votes are counted it always seems that alot of these NO votes turn in to yes votes. It just takes 1 words from YRCW or our International " CLOSING" and the voters will fall in line....

Yea I know if it comes to a vote it will pass no matter what they say now. I just can't believe some still want to give back more....... They should go to work for one of the nons.........
 
In light of the recent press releases concerning the pension I figured I'd give this thread a bump. This could ultimately be the question that determines the fate of YRC. The question is, just how much will the rank and file be willing to lose in order to save the company. You would have to think that at some point it just ain't worth it.
 
i guess we should have voted no on that pension freeze all along cause uncle sam wants to help us now, first time uncle sam helped union workers in quite a while

I'm already there Dan. All I have seen is management misuse the monies we have already forfeited.

mmb1980, did you forget the gm and chrysler bailouts, or the seiu healthcare bill? the gov has spent the national treasury on every union BUT the teamsters.....
 
I'll edit what I said to freight teamsters, the ones our union seems to put in the back burner cause of low membership and it makes sense to the union in a business sense to put us in the back burner cause they get more dues from auto and healthcare it seems, if this was a uaw or whatever union name is given to health care union workers i'm sure uncle sam would have been more responsive at their needs than our needs.....imagine if we would have gotten bailed out a year ago, i'm sure less people would have retired cause they knew they would get their pension accounted for, that responsiveness is a big deal to teamsters that need that extra year or two in
 
thank you for your edit. in the meantime i went back and edited mine too. we're not that far apart then maybe......

yep- i've got 22 years in at age 56. gone to another career thanks to yrc. waiting to see what happens.....
