does anybody know what the mandatory meetings are about i've seen memos in rto and mrt that they start this week but have not had a chance to attend yet since im on the road

about a 30 min meeting you'll watch a video saying welcome to the family and of course how good were doing and a thank you. Pretty much it nothing to worry about.

Seemed more like a new hire video, well done, then had a short presentation from a manager from regional office, soon after Line and P/D drivers joined hands and sang a few verses of "Kumbiyah" around the conference table....I found one thing different about the video John Y.(the COO) was more visible in this video than in the past,Dave&Earl C.are still the faces of OD but it looked like the COO is gonna do more heavy lifting,at least to employee presentations.

A wonderful job during our little sunshine session making sure we're all happy. (most of us are by the way). It'll go a long way in easing our pain when they announce we aren't getting any kind of an increase this year.
They may not giveth but at least they don't taketh.

just be very, very thank-ful they haven't taken anything away.
I drive for another LTL carrier in GBO,and they have taken a lot away from us. lay-offs, pay cuts, demotions, stealing vacation pay. closing terminals, and along with pay cuts they doubled our work load. now what little bit of a life you had before is pretty much gone.

at least none of the "fat cats" had to take a pay cut. just the one's that work for a living.
8 yrs with this company, all for nothing. it was a great job until about a year ago.

going to talk to O.D. in GBO monday. can anybody tell me what starting pay for line-haul is?
what is top pay,and how long it takes to get there?
I have been reading posts from a alot of different LTL companies on here, and O.D. drivers seem to be the happiest ones on here,by far. thanks for any input you might have.

Don't know what pay starts at, takes three years to top pay, which currently is .50cpm and 22.95 hourly. Best of luck on your interview.

I was told the other day that Drivers start at 20.00 hrly and .42/mi linehaul with a 90 day probation time

Thats what the terminal manager told me when I talked to him the other day. (.42 mi) starting, for line haul. Road drivers don't ever get hourly pay do they?
Also told me I'll be running to Jersey City most the time when I leave GBO. I hope I can get loads going else where once i leave J.city. don't want to be stuck in northeast the whole time.

Depending on what SC you go to or run out of their is usually some kind of extra city work that they will let us Linehaul drivers do while we wait for our loads , but you need to ask for it while ur there . You may or may not get any extra work right away but if they see that you're reliable they'll give it to you more and more as time goes by. Just gotta watch ur hours cuz if you do any extra and then run out of hours before you get back to your origin SC they will put a stop to it .

[/quote]There's usually enough freight @ JCY you're going to be able to shorthaul out of there, there's a lot of terminals nearby ,Its not a complicated system at OD all you gotta do in most cases to get a few extra miles is just ask(it seems like a simple thing but you'd be suprised how many guys would prefer to :badword: about low miles than to ask the local dispatcher if he has freight)besides it could mean the difference between sleeping at a motel or sleeping at the JCY bunkhouse.....
