If your so unhappy with your job at Fedex why don't you go find employment elsewhere??????? For all of you that are truck drivers and not dock workers I am sure Schnieder or JB Hunt will take you in.

Luckily the SC I'm at doesn't have a dock so it's not an issue for me. What I'm unhappy about is the not knowing whats going on. If they came to me and said you gotta go to Dallas, work the for a while then drive home, then so be it. I would make my decisions accordingly. Hopefully we'll find out soon.

I've been very happy with Fedex Freight the last six months. I received my severance check and those pension checks just keep rolling in. I did get a letter from Fedex Freight telling me I'm eligible to work as a casual if I want to after 2/1/2012. I can work up to 70 hours a month without effecting my pension. Unfortunately I'm allergic to cardboard and propane powered vehicles. If they send me a Red Shirt maybe I'll reconsider my options. Happy Trails, TP

I've been wondering how that deal works. So after retirement, when you become eligible for casual work, all they offer is dock? No trucking offered?
After I retire I wouldn't mind takin' an extra weekend hook every now and then just for kicks...but only after all the full time guys turned it down of course.

Wonder how the pecking order goes...does the city board get the extra work first? If so, shuttles might be the only thing left. But really, you should think of the dock as a health club that pays you and not vice versa. If you miss the scantily clad sweet young things, I'll wear my leather thong for you and you can use a little imagination.

Ok. If everybody who is "unhappy" quits. Then, in theory, the only people left are "happy". What happens at a later date when the company make changes and those people have to take pay cuts, loss of benefits, reductions in job security or changed definitions of job descriptions. I doubt the people who were 100% "happy" will remain that way. They have gained perspective and now have the ability to compare and contrast their work envirorments. Should they now quit? Why?

The letter just stated that I was eligible to apply for causal work. It didn't state what kind of work would be available. I was just guessing it would be dock work. I'm a little old to be doing that. I could handle a turn or lay down run if it was offered. I guess it depends on where your located. They did say I could work up to 70 hours a month and still collect my pension. After that, they would start deducting money from it.

So from your post one is led to assume that if someone has invested years of quality, top notch performance whithin a company such as FEDEX/VIKING/AF/WATKINS then you feel he/she has no right to express an opinion or to offer any feedback concerning work rules or company policies.

If you were around any of these other company's during their growth you would know that they all had a "REAL" open door policy and would listen , and act on feedback that they received from the front lines on the operation side.

That's how they all became dominant in their regions of operations. And also why they attracted FEDEX in the first place when they started buying them all up.

When that open door policy went away and they lost sight of the value of expeirianced drivers with proven track records I did start looking for another job at a company that did see value in my accomplishments. And now I'm happy to say I have fond just such a company and am making more money, working day's and very happy also.

But for you (who have most obviously drank way to many gallons of company kool-aid) to tell people who have a vested intrest in this company that if they don't like here's the door is way way out of line and just plain wrong.

I don't think that people are unhappy with the company as much as where they ended up after the merger. Me for example, I'm making more per mile and more by the hour than I ever have but I'm not getting the miles or the hours that I used to get, I'm bringing home less money than I did 12 years ago making .45 cent per mile. Some terminals are overflowing while others are not working as much, so this is a place to vent how they feel. If people don't like what they are reading on here they're are other forums on the web you can go to. I might not agree with everything that I read on here but I do respect everyone's opinion.:1036316054:
