FedEx Freight | truck conditions

To borrow a quote from the great Adam West as told to Catwoman...Redshirt I find you to be odious, abhorrent and INSEGREVIUOS !

Why bother?

Our tractors our washed once a month, after one day in the city, why bother. A medical company no longer put's up with smoking in their units- they fire the driver- they have had plenty of notices about company policy.. The tractors are leased and they are not theirs to destroy. Simply put.

Previous places I worked when a driver was cancelled or had no run- they were offered the opportunity to fuel/oil etc, clean, detail the units and write up any issues noticed, and park them in the shop or ready line. When you entered a unit, they were all pretty much the same...clean, fueled, and road ready. When that driver was caught up, they would work the dock, hostle- or if any extra road or city work was available, they would be allowed to work. That would never happen here, it makes to much sense.

It used to be a courtesy to others to keep the units clean...Other than the DVIR, the next driver usually doesn't notice I drove their unit. Leave no footprints, take out the trash, leave it better than you found it. Most shops provide paper towels and window cleaner. Hell, you can get paper towels and cleaner for @ $2.00 at any dollar store. If you wouldn't do it in/to your personal vehicle, don't do it to the units here.

After the changes here, I don't expect this to happen at all, it will sadly become worse. :1904:

hey red shirt in childress tx we are in a different truck everyday no trucks assigned to bids such as policy says the way they were going to do it.air conditioners in 60% of our trucks do not work, its 110 to 112 degrees every day and we are told they are not going to fix them all they will fix is dot reportable items. as far as smoking in trucks i turn in at least 1 driver a week that i follow in a truck for smoking and nothing ever done about it. it makes me sick to smell smoke and really messes with my sinuses. our trucks average 175000 miles and look like and drive like they have 1 million on them. so as far as i am concerned yall set yourselves up for the "condition of the trucks".assign trucks again according to seniorty and then you know who to hold accountable for all things that you have mentioned.i would bet if yall did this most of these issues would take care of themselves.it was this way before and it worked pretty good.

Don't assume that because his screen name is redshirt, he is actually a Supervisor. I refuse to believe that anyone who has that much trouble with the English language could have become a a manager... redshirt = :stirthepot:

you cant fix stupid but you can make them a redshirt

you are specifically forbidden to wash your assigned power unit unless specifically directed to do so by a member of the local management team. Being directed to do so would constitute a paid event not part of your drop or part of your mileage pay.

I wash mine cause it is an image thing, I dont like to hear on the CB there goes that dirty FedEx truck

I was just wondering, how many pats on the back do you get. And do you really think they don't call you a rat in the office.

I keep the trash out, and occasionally wash the exterior, but I'm not going to windex and 409 the interior surface. I don't get paid to do that, plus if I keep it sparkling clean, then someone will end up using my tractor, and as of now, nobody uses it besides me.

You drivers that can spend a whole day in a filthy truck must have filthy homes. It makes me feel sick to get in those trucks. Don't do it for FRED do it for yourself.

I agree with keeping an assigned truck clean. If I am picking a different truck nightly, I'll clean the steering wheel, shifter, etc.. Only stuff that should keep me disease free...
