Yellow | YRC Employees opinion on daily bill count

Almost 2 years later and have we grown?

Seems as though our sister companies have grown.

I heard the YRCF bill count could possibly become resurrected and posted!

Is that just a rumor or a fact?
When you go back to work ask the TM or top supervisor what the company bill count is for the previous day. Not all supers have access to it. It is alive and well in the vital signs screen.

I to have moved mty's around the yard. The dock forman assigns them to up his moves per hour and show he is utilizing his hostler hours.
Just part of the numbers Dog and Pony Show .
I agree with you completely, I've watched the "Jockey" flip the yard moving empties from one side to the other than back again just so he didn't have to work the dock. We need to get over the stick-it to the company mentality and get the job done.

i realize the need for accounting for hours, etc. But we all know the current system is a terminal vs terminal shell game. sad really.

I see guys saying how busy it is at their barn ,of course its busy , same # of bill for company less terminals = busy terminals

Yes it is . The terminal manager here at 881 was shown the door for this exact same thing 2 weeks ago
Everything at 881 is done this way.

Don't forget with the summer approaching guys marking off for vacation and OT given out like candy to get the job done. It's not about the bill count growing its about the service being made without claims that will grow the bill count.

Question??? with 15% being taken out:17113:, supposely we're more competitive now so more freight is being picked up. Will that bring back my brothers still out there on layoff??? Or do we have the equipment to handle 60k bills a day.

"Happy Memorial Day":usa2: Remember those who served before us and those who are not with us today....:usa:.

I jumped back to future and read the answer you gave me almost 2 years ago.
My original post was in regards to the prior bill count in 2009!
We have given Welch another 21 months.
I guess he did turn it around since we offered to buy ABF Freight for $481 million.
Our debt of 1.3 billion also mysteriously disappeared overnight.

If you compare year over year numbers, the bill count has increased to a daily average of roughly 3000-4000 more bills since around March of this year, from what the #'s were a year ago when we were around 40-43000. Not setting the world on fire, but this thing will not right itself in a month either. Listened to Welsh the other day at 309,and guys were expecting just that. A turn around in a week. He makes more sense than Zollars ever did. Least we can do is give him a chance, and hope that we all can help turn this around.

The bill count don't mean a RATSASS if you are not making money off the freight you are shipping! If you can't make money off it; then don't take the shipment!

Slowly, prices for shipping are going up. All it takes though is another 90/90 program by some non-union leaches to collapse the market again!

ill have my boys in charlotte tell the gom when he is giving a presift to stop trying to tell us about bill count because some clerk at 807 says they don't mean a RATSASS

If you think I am some clerk; your more insecure with your manhood than I thought; your screen name gives that away.

you stay hiding behind your steering wheel and stop acting like a yrc office girl and I wont chase you down with the long blades , you probably don't know what their are and by your statement you just showed your ignorance of your industry. its not all driving .

WTH was all that???? Do I need a secret decoder ring, or something????? I don't think I wrote anything about driving; I was talking about pricing... You know what a company charges to move freight????

Reading is a skill; try to master it; get off the longblades (shorty), and read this again!

The daily bill count was never a thread about whether the company was making money or not. The purpose of the bill count was to establish the flow of freight in the breakbulk system .When the company wanted to close certain terminals, the bill count was used as a tool to prevent those closures! It has taken a life of it's own over the years, but is still one of the best threads on here! Thank you KK! When you need information, he's the source. Thank you Big R Guy for carrying the torch! I still have a few more roofs to inspect!!:wavey:

jenny do you multiple personalitys?
when you 1st came to these boards some told you to stop fighting your husbands battles. you said you were no jenny and that was your daughters name and I believe you said you were a driver . now you changing again ?
you still still think yrc cheerleader is a better id for you .
NO I don't have any idea about pricing . nor do I give a RATSASS as you say.what ever you do for this company.ask direction and find the dock. ask some1 to show you the long blades ,im sure they will make you tingle all over.
I have never even wondered about my MANHOOD.
But many are wondering what you are .

off topic here, but is it true that sometimes we have to haul the BS freight that doesn't pay well to help move the good freight thru the system in a timely fashion....

I acknowledge the system wide bill count thread as an important indicator of our strength and whether our growth is increasing or just stagnating.
I also keep track of our sister companies growth based upon the quarter results posted by the corporation.
Believe me, the company literally wastes thousands of dollars each and every day with clueless, poor dispatches.
Good thing fuel isn't $6/gallon. Oh, I forgot the customer pays for that via a fuel surcharge which gets passed down to us, the consumer!

Well, many of you forgot what it was originally intended for....years back, the company filed a COO based on a bill count of 50K AVERAGE per day....I had then the bill counts for the 6 months before that, and it hardly went above 41.5K a day, how do you get a 50K AVERAGE per day from that?, I asked the COO Committee.

After a break, they came back and based the COO on 41.5K a day bill count, and this kept the Springfield break bulk open (y'all already forgot out there?) and it reduced the number of employees being moved system wide by 10%....its all on the record....THAT, is why you keep up with bill counts.....I trust the numbers I get, not what they file on.....KK
