Details on Fatal Accident in Trinity County that Started Fire...
At approximately 1:10 pm on September 13, 2011, an 18 wheeler driven by Billy Elzie Hogg, 75, of Livingston, was traveling on FM-355 about 7 miles out of Groveton. Hogg's rig left the road, overturned, and caught fire. Trooper Michael Hutcherson with the Texas Highway Patrol was dispatched to the scene. Billy Hogg was killed in the accident and pronounced dead at the scene at 1:38 pm by Judge Randy Barrett. Hogg was transported to Waller Thornton Funeral Home in Trinity County. The cause of the accident remains under investigation by the Texas Department of Public Safety.
Accident Causes Fire...
The fiery accident caused a fire that burned around 1,000 acres. Volunteer Firemen from various departments in Polk County sent men and equipment/trucks to help battle the blaze that has been 100% contained.
