Was told in a meeting projected growth in 2011 will be 25%. If accomplished there would be a shortage of about 300 R/Ders. He said some of these needs would be filled when the LOA is over. 25% within our footprint, I can't see it.Only during our expansion, pre YRC did we grow this much. I can say our o/b in Memphis has grown 40% over last year. I was wondering if any other barns are putting out these predictions? GRIZZ Oh yea EQUIPMENT was brought up..

I hope that they are right on the 25% growth prediction, but predictions don't mean much to me. I'll believe it when I see it. I wonder where the 25% will come from. I wouldn't expect the economy to pick up by that much, so that would mean the freight has to come from the competition. If the company continues the (stupid) strategy from the past few years, most of the freight that we will target, will be from YRC, instead of from the others.

As for meetings.......Nope. None up here. They don't have many meetings with us because they don't like to get stumped with our questions. We don't just sit there like puppets, we ask questions that they don't want to discuss. Like about junk equipment, storage trailers everyday, and other things that they would rather not talk about.

What did they have to say about equipment? I'm sure that their answer sounded good, but don't hold your breath waiting for results. But the answer was probably good enough to satisfy you guys. (or should I say, good enough to shut you up)

If they are counting on the LOA expiring to bring a bunch back then they better change a bunch of things.
I don't see it happening unless the regionals are separate from YRC.

While we are on growth, what has happened to all the posters that hammered this company for the last 2 years? Come on folks, it doesn't have to be negatives at your barns to post. Whats going on around the system?

The freight is so back up here in memphis that the terminal manager had posted up weekend road runs to any city driver with hours available.but of course when the labor man got word of the posting it was taken down.thats just how desperate the company has gotten just to get the freight move.oh by the way they had city guys ready to go.

From a good source, we are doing about 23,000 bills per night, goal is 26,000 per night and to hold footprint there. also need 300 more tractors by summer.

Give it time I think were heading in the right direction my friend.let's just stay positive about our company we work for right now and reap the benefits later.

20,000 is the break even point. 06-07 our average was about 32,000. Thats with a much larger footprint.

Don't forget Griz. Memphis is one of the exceptions to the normal. Most barns don't have the positive numbers to talk about. Times are tight in most places.

up 49% in Detroit. ran over 1000 bills outbound yesterday. rumor from a good source is the company is looking to hire about 1000 drivers over the course of the year.

also they are looking to hit the 26000 shipment mark this year, and we are running at 24500 right now....in our down season. if it keeps up it is going to be a busy summer.

I heard they posted a crossover sign-up in cincy this week looking to hire 10 city guys. Somethings up. Haven't heard of layoffs in the system this year and hiring this time of year? Sounds good. Also Holland03...are you saying that Holland is rolling 24500 of the daily bills out of the entire 45000 (on a good day) that National runs or is that in addition to that?

even though we are regionals. you have to remember that, that bill count includes freight going to new penn and reddaway also.if i'm not mistaken. we have been pretty busy at new penn also.

The 24,000 bill count is for Holland only, the 45,000 bill count is just for YRC only. I do not know what the bill count is for New Penn and Reddaway.

I know you said the 24000 was hollands bill count. but out of that 24000 bills how many move to new penn and reddaway. I was not implying that new penn and reddaways bill count was included in that number. Ex. if npme does 15000 outbound bills 2000 may go to holland and reddaway and 13000 stay in the npme system.
