Watch your step and be sure it is stepped in the proper stepping area! Just sayin'. Some people seem to have WAY too much time on their hands.
Sorry for the cryptic message. A little research will explain.

Hey, it was your fault that the guy ran over your foot with that forklift! Sure you were trying to get out of his way, but you should have moved faster!

The XHG driver than ran over the W&I inspector at Carlstadt said it was the inspector's fault....It must be the orange vests dont clash with our forklifts....

Yea...stay in the painted walkways if your going to slip and fall...if not...points...pure B.S.

All of this safety talk is a bunch of bull from this company. Here is a example. The dock starts sweating, water all over the dock. That looks like a safety issue but nothing gets done about it. There used to be sawdust and that helps.

That cost money! Con-way has a financial responsibility to it's shareholders. Without the shareholders , who would our board of directors look out for? Safety is fine , but it doesn't make money. That is the hidden star.

We use sand, which poses another health hazard when it dries and gets kicked up so everyone gets to breathe it.

Safety in all these companies it not something actually practiced...its something talked about.

This is a genre to appease the fed...nothing more.

Safety admisnistration makes the company no money...it is a necessary expense.

The company goes thru the motions of having a safety program...but it is all forgottten as freight levels increase.

Posters..videos..handouts are little more than exercises in grandstanding for OSHA...

Once done...the fed is happy.

We are constantly sent out in 8000's with 38,000 lbs of freight or to pick up swaps with heavy loads. Trucks are only licensed for 60k gross. I've talked to several sup's about it, nothing changes.

Read this. If you are being asked or ordered to do something unsafe and/or dangerous you don't have to and you shouldn't.

Be very careful though. Even with laws to protect the drivers that put safety first , Con-way will make every effort to fire you if you rock the boat.

Why does the dock sweat? I have never seen that before. Is it because of the humidity back east?

When it gets cold for a good while. The concrete " freezes ". So then on a warmer day. 40's or better. It's like the outside of a cold glass in the summer time. Condensation builds up. And then puddles.

Really.

Is all this grandiose, self inflated company has to worry about???...

These are issues that raise their ugly head when safety peeps have nothing to do and need to justify their existence. They have a compelling need to qualify their positions to corporate. The safety peeps generate no revenue...they are an off the top expense...

So at certain times each year...when things are slow and expenses are trimmed, the paranoid 'safety peeps' feel a need to quantify their existence. Hence...'walk in the painted walkways'...

Morons!!!!

Did you see the W&I guy get hit? The guy was bent over behind a skid right behind the tow motor not very smart the way I see it and I guess the way the company saw it too because XHG driver kept his job. Also XCV has a holding area for skids to be inspected .
