I am considering FedEx as a potential employer and I've been in the industry for about 4 years. I hear a lot of talk about layoffs and hiring apprentices, but what about those who are currently working? How is the pay, bennies, home time, etc.? Thanks.:15:

I'm the one who is missing something - your point. If you are referring to a previous post where I can find this information, please let me know and I will search further. Thanks.

The pay and benifits are good! The management has alot to be desired! I moved twice last year, at my expense. I'm back on the bottom of the extra board thanks to the many changes in operations. Now I work 2-3 days a week if I'm lucky. If you talk to HR from my service center, you can expect retaliation!

I'm not sure what is going on. This same post was asked and answered a couple of days ago. I see the number of my posts have decreased, so I don't know what is going on. I did write a couple of paragraphs on my first answer. TP

10 Dash 4, thanks for the explanation Jeff. At my age you never know if your losing it or not. I'm still looking for my keys.

I'll try to sum up what I said the first time. You have to realize that FXF is now a large corporation, and not a family run business like it used to be with AF, Viking and Watkins. They offer a completive wage standard to the industry for both hourly and mileage. I believe it still takes three years to reach top of scale. Your best shot at steady work is working out of a large hub. Working the dock is just a fact of life now at FXF. Line haul runs are mostly turns and over night lay down runs. We don't use sleepers, so your home everyday most of the time. They offer a good health and welfare package, 401K, pension plan, credit union, and up to 4 weeks vacation along with the standard holidays. You need the hasmat endorsement on your license, and if you have a problem passing a drug test don't waste your time with us. They also do an extensive background check so tell the truth on your application. Sorry for the miscommunication, I hope this helps. Old TP, FXF Retired

Consider somewhere else. You obviously haven't read the posts. The shiny wheels here cover alot of rust. UPS feeder driver is your best bet, as long as your partner has a good job with benefits until you get in. Afterwards you will have one of the best retirement packages in the industry, comparable to the railroads. Get out there and talk to any UPS feeder driver and they will all tell you the same thing, the management stinks, working nights is gravy, and I am only here for the pension. All they do is drive. No fueling, the equipment is fueled and put away. You drop your tail spot your dolly and put away your lead in most cases, hook and go home, drop out, turn in your computer, go home. No dock whatsoever. No matter what tractor you get, it's spotless and fueled, road ready. If I had it to do all over again that's where I'd be...I messed up and got married.

Oops, I guess I should have not said that, it's amazing what you say typing while intoxicated (TWI). I hope my wife don't read tihs.
