Sso theres this Tandem dolly in IND. Makes for interesting conversations..... If i remember correctly 197 Tandem dollies were to be bought. Now i was told that one was going to Florida. I would belive that but hows come it's been siting in IND for 8Months. 1 pic was taken with that dolly and made it's way around from center to center on the turnpike very quickly!! Questiions were asked multiple times. then.................. HUSH HUSH! They even had burried it under Racks between old trls for awhile!

RC thinks it is CLC's answer to being over on the drive axle. Make it the rear with a tandem axle dolly. RC can see it happening.

Just like the tandem k cars they gave to some centers because of the weight. Well thats fine but with the fifth wheel slid all the way back she ought be a helluva nice ride on a snow covered road with no weight on steer axle! !!

anybody ever think that just maybe that dolly is designated for somewhere out west that run LCV's and for some reason it just aint made it there yet? or maybe that the IND shop is taking parts off it as needed before scrapping it? I remember when they took that detach to EFH and everybody said we're gonna move heavy equipment for hire... that piece of junk aint moved in 2 years.

Or did anybody ever think those tandem dollies might be for those 20 to 30 48' vans with pintle hooks and glad hand hook ups on the back of each van to pull double 48s on the turnpikes like In, Oh, and Fl???

There might even be 50 of those vans at CGT (Chicago Heights), I didn't count each one of them.

RC is sticking with the fix the drive axle overweight idea.
Goes back to the day one of our guys was 6k over gross. First question from CLC
Did you try switching the trailers front to rear?
Next question.
Well, what kind of tractor is it? I guess it's feasible that there might be a road tractor 6k lbs lighter. Maybe it was the one the shop was parting out, engine and drivetrain already gone. Just cut a hole in the floor and act like Fred Flintstone.
Next question

Question would be, where did they get there truck driving manual to ask such important questions???:biglaugh:

I was over gross with a van and twin screw tractor one day. Dispatch asked if I could slide the tandems to get legal. I told them I didn't think that much rust would fall off.

Sent from my Smartish Doohickey .

ROFLMFAO RC was at a paper mill making an on line pick (more west coast jargon) when this OTR gut in one of those orange trucks comes in dripping with sweat and says in a thick Southern drawl..."I've been at the truck stop the last two hours and no matter how I slide my fifth wheel and tandems, I can't get this sumbitch legal." RC says so let me take a peak at that scale ticket, driver. 12k plus steer, nearly 35 on tractor and trailer.
So good old RC says well, driver, as long as you are over 80k I guess that might be true.
Then the little light in his head came on.
Even some scale cops don't get gross weights especially with doubles. Saw one one night reweigh a set right in front of me. Red light every axle: 11k steer 19k next four axles let him go. All axles legal but 7k over gross.

I heard the tandem dollies were going to be used to make JIFFLOKS for the new tri-axle 57ft trailers. I just hear things, People tell me stuff, What ever I don`t know,I make up!!
