Right now we are holding on but the future doesn't look bright. Nothing has changed enough to give us hope. We don't have the power to change things at the top. So just enjoy the ride. And if the time comes to leave just walk away and be glad we lasted as long as we did. In the LTL business it doesn't get any easier than Vitran. The ironic part of all this is that the FXF management team that was suppose to be our savior.....Appears to be our downfall. Pity.....Such a pity. The thought that they could turn this place into another OD was promising at first. But with the mounting losses it appears its just a matter of time that we must face the cold hard facts. It's hard to believe that we will be sustainable long term. I suppose it was just BLIND FAITH... Good day my Vitran Brothers....ENJOY THE RIDE. It can't last forever. Not the road we are going down...Its going to take a miracle to come out of this alive. I suppose it's possible but its going to be a long shot. :flame: Besides the introduction of technology and getting rid of Gaetz they should have left well enough alone in many cases.....Change just for the sake of change hasn't paid off....As a matter of fact it's cost us money. When was the last time we turned a profit? Yes you got to spend money to make money, but some of the things they have spent money on has not been worth it. They got rid of a lot of good people along the way, and its hard to recover from just that in itself. Way to much change in the sales force just for starters. And they have done nothing to address the OS&D issues....THAT IS DRAINING THIS COMPANY DRY !!

train, i love your reason for editing. lmfao.
Todays news changes nothing for me....I'm going to enjoy the ride until we crash and burn. I'm going down with the ship boys..... But this ride is almost over. And my bottle is empty. Time to start pounding the pavement to check my options because I don't think we have to long...H.E. how long do you think we got? Stunman do you think we will survive 2013?

train, I with you and am starting to think its time to start exploring my options to, I think I'm going to ride this to the bottom but don't want to be left without a life raft either, of course if a strong looking ship comes by and wants me to jump over I just might do it. I had high hopes for CK but I think he took over a ship with to much damage to repair without getting into a drydock. I say at our current rate we might last thru the year, but if we continue losing customers might not be thru the summer, funny when Vitran bought PJAX I never heard of them before, but some of my regular customers sure had, and they didn't have good things to say.

how many of us had never heard of vitran. how many of wish we never have. it is hard to understand the way that they refuse to overlook the real issues.and try to mask them with blame fix the damn problem and things would have gotten better. but they took the way of screwing the employee's and that i have never seen work in any way shape or form in any business. i said it before and i'll say it again it all started with the taking of 5% when there was no reason to just to follow suite with other companys the lug nuts started to come off at that point . they have run out of people to blame now as it was a long time ago it is the same stupid ideas stupid mistakes and stupid people at the top who seem to have a problem admitting they screwed this up.not the drivers who have been asked to do the impossible with nothing. they want to know who the backbone of this company is was and always will be it is the drivers here while they sit on there asses emailing and makeing the rocket science choices they do we keep pulling off the impossible. for all the time spent doing the stupid crap they do all of this could have been fixed years ago but leadership at the top was not that important just look at the results. to all my vitran brothers one's to whom i have not met and to those i have my hat's off to you i salute you for the effort and the dedacation to this company. putting up with the crap driving the crap we all have had to.the late nights long hours trying to make something work.hey boy's here an idea maybe back about 5 years ago spend all that money on load straps and things like that and our os&d would have been cut in half just a thought but this company was more intrested in what .can anybody tell me shout it out when you know the anwser.

if they don't seperate u.s. from canada, i say maybe third qtr max. if they let u.s. on their own, they prob would poss get a loan on properties and maybe last to end of yr. can't rule out just shutting u.s. down mid yr or selling it for pennies on th dollar. whatever the scenerio is, it won't work. customers don't want us, employees are burned out, mismanagement and too top heavy, csa rating excessive, a back log of lawsuits on the horizon. they should've never expanded out west, that was the kiss of death. i see dockworkers go bye bye, drivers forced to work dock, o.t. to be froze and possibly a concession. hope the vacation will still be honored, my t.m. is side stepping everyone when they approach him about it. i confronted him on this and forced his hand, i don't he liked it. lol. good luck everyone.

This place is being run just like Wonder/Hostess, right in the ground. I'd swear its being done on purpose. Everyone in management has their own agenda. There is no uniformity company wide. We have lost the customers confidence, and we're not getting it back. The customers are tired of the excuses. They are willing to pay more at another carrier knowing it will get there on time and in one piece. The other LTL carriers are licking their chops at yesterdays news.

Didn't they already put up all of the terminals they own for the last loan prior to the sale of SCO? They no more collateral to sacrifice to stay afloat

Yes, they already mortgaged all the properties. Canada has cut you off, it's game over
No I believe they paid off all the debt and that included the terminals they put up. To my understanding they are completely debt free......Is that right H.E.?

correct. the board of directors in canada are already planning their moves on how to handle this and they won't stick their necks out for u.s. again. they will need to act fast, prob split off u.s. seperate for several reasons. save canada ltl, let u.s. try for last effort loan on properties and there's still a bunch of lawsuits. i don't think anyone would purchase us, we don't have anything of value and the accts we have no one wants. if i was a board member my vote would be to just close it up, why waste time and money on a losing effort.

Hopefully Monday morning at 10:30 am Mr.Estes says "your hired" to me. I held on as long as I can. I'm not mad or wishing ill will towards anyone or the company because, I do have people here that I do consider friends that really have no way out right now.

Guys, Sorry to hear whats happening to you over there. CK was a Purple Head and I think he learned everything from the ex conjob leader MIKE MOSS-he ruined FEDEX FRT and our new leader thinks we should run like an airline--just isn't happening. We too re loosing customers by the groupa because they are fed-up with the FEDEX way or the highway attitude we now have. At my terminal, local guys are working 14 hr days while others sit and get 4 hrs a week--others are just coming in and quitting on the spot. Most of us are now short run shuttle drivers and work the dock while they train dock workers to be drivers and ten run them. Most of us think Line haul at the big PURPLE PALACE will be a thing of the past in the next couple years with the amount of outside carriers aned rail they are now using so just wish all of you the best in the future and good luck.

That is exactly the right attitude to have...Never get cocky and say fu** you and your company....Never burn bridges....Just say I wish you well and walk away with a friendly goodbye. This company served it's purpose in your life at the exact CORRECT moment in time. It served to lead you to a better opportunity. Always be happy for the people you met along the way....Never become vain and bitter....Then better things will always come your way. Again guys I want to reiterate to you, just enjoy the ride. Nothing last forever and all things come to an end....We had a good run but it's almost over. If you find something better for you and your family by all means go for it. But don't distress yourself with imaginings....Accept it for what it is and let it go if you can. Concern yourself with your own career. Protect that CDL it is a real asset in the changing fortunes of time.

you are going to leave mr ranger?

you are going to leave mr ranger?

Hopefully If i hear what I want to on Monday. I look at this way. Last October I was running a meet with Minniapolis 662 miles, central line haul canceled the run, I get pushed onto a KC turn at 424 miles (loss of 25%) I am still making a good paycheck, we revamp the system and I get pushed onto a OKC turn at 322 miles (another 25% loss). Now with every change I have lost 25% of milage, I'm now up to a 50% loss in 6 months. My new run I start at 11pm and work the dock and city P and D when I get in. I'm tired of losing.

My wife are adopting a baby in July so making a switch now may not be the smartest move but, in the long run it would be better. If I can make the same amount of money working days at ESTES that I can after 7 years here working nights at Vitran. I am looking at the quality life come summer and long run situation. I have worked every postion at my terminal with the exception of TM. CIty,Line, Outbound, Inbound and City Dispatch. I have taken on extra duties at my postion by becoming the Line Driver trainer and Longer Combination Vehicle Trainer to help pad or better my postion. I can take all of that with me to include becoming a Federally certified LCV trainer.

I'm tired of losing. I'm tired of taking time away from my wife. I'm tired of working my ass off and still going no where. I'm tired of doing the right thing in the eyes of the company while inconveniencing myself in the long term and not even getting so much as a thank you in return.
