TForce | Subcontracting

Nsh put their last 2 off lay off 2 weeks ago. Its not a matter of if they r laid off its a matter of how many days they get out.. our bottom 2 get maybe 2 days during the week n one day on wkend, while we load 4-6 loads a night for contractors. Thats my problem wit sc@bs

HRS drivers are the only employees that work at the terminal that never get laid off, city drivers, dock and yard all have guys that get laid off...

There has to be more to it than laid off drivers. It's all about the full time drivers starving because contract carriers are hauling their freight...
We'll find out after next Tuesday. All union BAs that have UPS employees are meeting in DC on May 7 to get contract details on both package and freight contracts. These details will be released to the rest of the membership at the end of this meeting. So next Wednesday we should know what's in there!

Then we can tell them what to do with their tentative agreement...

The details I have been hearing (if true) will make the first contract look like it was a good deal for road drivers.

That won't happen...
well if they were to reduce contracting and send drivers to those end of line terminals that don't have freight coming out for a day or so ,they are going to have them doing something. not sitting in a motel room.
for some reason ups freight don't have any wild bids, if they made all non direct routs a wild bid, they could hope them from terminal to terminal put them in a room for 10 and continue the terminal hop till they got back to their home location at the end of the week for their 34 hour break. it would put a big dent in the contracting issue ,put drivers to work, create more driving jobs, and get the freight delivered faster.

They are scared to pay Motel costs... We have wild drivers that do take hours but they always try not to have to do that...

What I don't understand is why they wouldn't even propose meeting half-way? I prefer no subcontracting at all, but we all know that that is unlikely.

If I have to start working the dock or doing P & D I'll leave. I've done both at other companies and made it my goal to be a road driver. As I am classified as a road driver I have no desire to pound the pavement or do dock bumps all day long.
