I just got the word this morning. :fan::fan::fan:

This includes Reno, Las Vegas, Phoenix, Denver, Portland and Seattle.

I must say, I am not a least bit surprised!

texting a friend of mine that just went to the reno terminal a month ago. And what are they going to do, interline the freight for this region?

Well i guess its true. My friend just texted back, Aug 3rd is the last day, so it is confirmed by a con-way guy..lol. Hopefully all affected can find work soon.

why r they closing?

I was told, that it was a multitude of things: too few terminals, too much distance to cover, lack of business, third-party, damaged freight claims, and many other things. I was also told there was a $17 million dollar loss in the first quarter of this year alone! YIKES!

should've done this awhile back, not meaning to upset anyone on here. they need to focus on a smaller footprint, but this is done way too late. i imagine this is a decision made by the board and the acting ceo, not a keylon production. chris is grounded in his office with a box of crayons while he watches castaway and talks to WILSON. lol.

all California terminals are to go as well. I think there's 7 or 8 terminals between CA/AZ/NV/CO area. In AZ, Phoenix is run by an agent and Daniel Boone says we'll stop using WA/OR which are run by agents. So we will stop servicing about 9/10 terminals, but only 6/7 terminals worth of people will be laid off.

the loss is the main reason i am leaving (#1 of about 20 reasons), the writing is on the wall boys and girls. i can see a new freight company starting at saskatoon (skipping ND) to st paul through chicago to atlanta and points east, aka milan with extra space. there is a lot of freight in kc, okc, dallas, but if you keep damaging it, you cant haul it.
